Chynna Ortaleza talks about her first time on TV: "It was such an awesome childhood."
Nang dahil sa pagde-demo niya kung paano magluto ng cheeze churros, nagsimula ang showbiz career ni Chynna Ortaleza.
Ito ang naikuwento niya sa kanyang PEP Exclusives interview with Jimpy Anarcon.
Lahad ni Chynna, naghahanap daw noon ang kiddie magazine show na 5 and Up ng batang chef na ipi-feature.
Ang 5 and Up ang kiddie magazine show na produced ng Probe Media Foundation and Philippine Children's Television Foundation na tumakbo mula 1992 hanggang 2002.
Nagpapalabas ito ng mga fun, informative, at educational documentaries na ang target audience ay mga bata.
Nung panahon na yun, nagsa-summer cooking class si Chynna at ang klase nila ang napuntahan ng show.
"My teacher, for some reason, probably thought bibo ako, so ako yung pinili niya to get interviewed to cook cheese churros.
"'Tapos after no'n, the producer said, 'We're actually looking for new reporters. We'll give you a call if the auditions are open," sabi pa ni Chynna.
Dahil din daw sa kanyang magulang kaya nag-audition na talaga siya nang tawagan na nga siya ng show.
"Yun naman kasi ang itinuro sa 'kin ng parents ko, na parang, 'Go and try. These are opportunities na hindi naman nakukuha ng lahat ng tao.
"'And it's OK if you fail. Don't feel bad, at least you tried,'" ang pangaral daw sa kanya ng magulang.
Nakuha nga kalaunan si Chynna sa 5 and Up, kunsaan nakasama niya ang mga katulad nina Atom Araullo at Maxene Magalona.
Nanggaling din sa show na ito ang magkapatid na Rodjun at Rayver Cruz.
Sa ilalim ng mentoring ng Probe Team producers and hosts na sina Cheche Lazaro at Luchi Cruz-Valdes, na kilala sa paggawa ng mga magaganda at makabuluhang documentaries, itinuturing ni Chynna na isa sa pinakamalaking blessing sa kanyang buhay ang pagiging 5 and Up host.
