Here are the highlights of the comparative ratings of GMA-7 and ABS-CBN, programs from July 18-22, 2016 in Urban Luzon.
GMA-7's Encantadia was not able to unseat ABS-CBN's FPJ's Ang Probinsyano during the former's pilot week.
The fantasy series that was a massive hit in 2005 has returned this year, with a new cast composed of Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Glaiza de Castro.
Encantadia's first episode on July 18 did well, garnering 26.1%, and defeating FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, which only garnered 24.2%. The Coco Martin-starrer was the most-watched show that day.
But FPJ's Ang Probinsyano regained its lead on the next four episodes.
| Show | Jul 18 | Jul 19 | Jul 20 | Jul 21 | Jul 22 |
| Probinsyano | 24.2% | 26.3% | 26.2% | 26.9% | 26.2% |
| Encantadia | 26.1% | 23.5% | 23.3% | 21.6% | 23.5% |
It remains to be seen if Encantadia can still topple the Coco Martin-starrer, particularly when its new set of sang'gres finally appear tonight, July 27.
Another new Kapuso show was Sinungaling Mong Puso, which debuted on July 18 in the afternoon slot. It is a political drama that stars Rhian Ramos and Rafael Rosell.
The pilot episode had a 13.4% rating, only a fraction higher than Doble Kara's 13.1%. It was not a significant enough margin to declare a win. The two took turns in taking the lead.
On July 21, Thursday, they tied at a 12.7% rating.
| Show | Jul 18 | Jul 19 | Jul 20 | Jul 21 | Jul 22 |
| Sinungaling Mong Puso | 13.4% | 11.6% | 12.1% | 12.7% | 13.3% |
| Doble Kara | 13.1% | 12.6% | 12.6% | 12.7% | 12.2% |
ABS-CBN premiered two new shows on July 18: PBB Vietnam: Mga Kwento ng Celebrity Housemates, a complementary show to PBB on primetime, and Minute to Win It: Last Man Standing, a game show hosted by Luis Manzano.
Both shows were aired against Wowowin, and got lower ratings than Willie Revillame's variety show for their pilot week.
Two shows from GMA-7 aired their final episodes during the given period.
The first was Once Again, a love story that starred Janine Gutierrez and Aljur Abrenica, which got a 19.8%, losing to Dolce Amore's 22.3% on July 22.
The second show was Love Me Heal Me, a Korean series on late primetime, rated 9.2%, which is lower than Pinoy Big Brother Vietnam's 9.8%.
