EARLY LIFE
Full Name, Age, Hometown
Fátima Bosch Fernández was born on May 19, 2000, making her 25 years old at the time of her Miss Universe win.
She hails from Teapa, Tabasco, a lush, tropical municipality in southern Mexico known for its rivers, rainforests, and rich cultural roots.
Growing up in a region far from the country’s usual pageant epicenters, she often spoke about how her provincial upbringing shaped her discipline, worldview, and desire to represent communities beyond the spotlight.

Family
Fatima grew up in a tight-knit family in Tabasco.
She has been open about her personal challenges, including having dyslexia and ADHD, experiences that deeply influenced her advocacy work later on.
She said she had been bullied growing up because of her learning differences.
That period strengthened her empathy and her commitment to building spaces where young people can thrive regardless of their circumstances.

EDUCATION
Fatima studied fashion and apparel design—a field that merged her love for creativity with structured technical training.
Her academic journey took her through multiple institutions, including the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, the Lyndon Institute in the United States, and later, studies connected to Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan.
Her exposure to international environments helped her develop a global perspective on culture, identity, and representation.

Fatima's pageant journey
The Miss Universe 2025 titleholder's rise in pageantry began in her home state, where she won Flor de Oro Tabasco 2018, representing Teapa.
Her win put her on the national radar, clearing the way for her growth into a stronger, more seasoned contender.
On September 13, 2025, she was crowned Miss Universe Mexico 2025 in Zapopan, Jalisco, becoming the first-ever Tabasqueña to win the title.
Her victory was met with strong public support, largely due to her articulate advocacy, fashion background, and grounded personality.

Controversy with Nawat Itsaragrisil
Ahead of Miss Universe 2025, Fatima unexpectedly became the center of an international controversy involving Thai pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil.
During a sash ceremony in Thailand, contestants were questioned about missing a social media shoot.
Nawat publicly singled out Fatima and confronted her, accusing her of failing to support the host country.
He asked her: “Mexico, where are you? I heard you're not going to support everything about Thailand, is that true?”
As Fatima attempted to clarify that she was following her national organization’s instructions, Nawat interrupted her repeatedly—at one point calling her “dumb.”
She stood her ground, responding: “As women, you need to show respect for us. I’m here representing a country, and it’s not my fault that you have problems with my organization.”
Tension escalated when Nawat allegedly instructed security to intervene, prompting outrage from fellow delegates.

In solidarity, numerous contestants—including reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig—walked out of the room with Fatima, marking one of the most dramatic collective protests in modern pageant history.
Fatima's Winning Answer
Instead of harming her image, the incident amplified her platform, framing her as a woman unwilling to tolerate disrespect and unafraid to defend herself and others.
Coupled with her consistent performance throughout the competition, it’s no wonder she made it to the Top 5.

For the final Q&A, the Top 5 were all asked the same question on how they would use the Miss Universe platform to empower young girls.
Fatima's answer centered on authenticity and self-worth.
“As Miss Universe, I will say to them: believe in the power of your authenticity.
“Believe in yourself. Your dreams matter, your heart matters.
“And never let anyone make you doubt your worth, because you are worth everything, and you are powerful, and your voice needs to be heard. Thank you.”
