Pinangunahan nina First Lady Lisa Araneta Marcos at Film Development Council of The Philippines (FDCP) Chairperson Jose Javier Reyes ang ribbon-cutting sa inauguration ng FDCP Cinematheque Manila.
Ginanap ito noong Pebrero 26, 2026, Huwebes, sa Philippine Heritage Building, Intramuros, Manila.
JOEY REYES SPEECH
“Sa wakas, may bahay na ang Pelikulang Pilipino!” bulalas ni Direk Joey sa welcome speech.
“We are 107 years old and it’s only now that Filipino cinema has found its home. And we celebrate this opening of Cinematheque Manila which is more than just a microcinema.
“It would have screenings of very special films, both local and foreign. More so, it is a hub for education.
“Hindi alam ng karamihan na andami-daming mga workshops, andami-daming mga forum, andami-daming film talks na nagaganap sa Cinematheque.
“At higit pa roon, hindi rin alam ng karamihan na lima ang Cinematheque dito sa ating bayan.
“There is the heart of Cinematheque which is Cinematheque Manila. But we also have Cinematheque branches in Bacolod, in Iloilo, in Davao, and in Nabunturan.
“Ang tanging pangarap namin ay lalong maging aktibo ang mga Cinematheque na ito, hindi lamang sa pagpapalabas ng iba’t ibang uri ng pelikula kundi para bigyan ng oportunidad ang mga filmmakers ng iba’t ibang rehiyon na magkaroon din ng kanilang bahay upang maipalabas ang kanilang pelikula.
“Imulat natin ang katotohanan that Philippine cinema is not only centered in Manila.
“We want to hear the Cebuanos. We want to hear the Kapampangans. We want to feel the Ilocanos.
“We want to hear the voices of young filmmakers and the Cinematheques opened that opportunity for them whether in short films or in full-length features.
“At tanging pangarap din ng administrasyong ito ng FDCP na bago kami bumaba sa 2028, makapagbukas pa kami ng dalawang Cinematheque.
“Cinematheque sa Cebu, Cinematheque sa Baguio. At kung papalarin kami ng Panginoon, Cinematheque din sa Dumaguete, at Cinematheque sa Pampanga."
Pagpapatuloy ni Joey: “Isipin natin na bawat Cinematheque ay magbubukas ng oportunidad para sa mga kabataan at sa mga debotante ng pelikulang Pilipino upang mahanap ang kanilang boses at magkaroon ng pagkakataon na bigyan ng porma ang kanilang mga kaisipan.
“So, sa pagkakataong ito… nais naming sabihin sa inyo na ang Cinematheque Manila at ang lahat ng Cinematheque ay bukas sa kahit sinong interesado sa pelikulang Pilipino.
“And what can be more outstanding, what can be more awesome than the fact that we are showing Jun Robles Lana’s Sisa to open Cinematheque Manila.
“And tomorrow we are showing Sisa by National Artist Gerardo de Leon.
"Ito lamang ang magpapatunay na ang kabuhayan ng pelikulang Pilipino na hindi lamang nanggagaling mula sa mga lumikha nito kundi sa mga manonood at mga naniniwala na may katuturan, may kasaysayan ang boses at kaisipan ng Pilipino sa sining ng pelikula.
“Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino at maraming salamat at nandirito kayo sa hapong ito.”
Hindi nag-speech si First Lady. Nakihalubilo, nakichika-chika at nagpa-picture lang siya sa mga panauhin, at sinamahan ang pari at si Direk Joey sa blessing ceremony ng Cinematheque Manila.
SISA NA BIDA SI HILDA KORONEL, IPAPALABAS SA FDCP CINEMATHEQUE
Present ang title role sa Sisa na si Hilda Koronel. Naroon din ang direktor ng pelikula na si Jun Robles Lana, at producers na sina Direk Perci Intalan, G. Jim Baltazar, at Atty. Joji Alonso.
Sa loob ng microcinema right before the screening of Sisa, nagpasalamat si Atty. Joji kay FDCP Chairman and CEO Joey Reyes sa pagpili sa Sisa na maging opening film ng Cinematheque Manila. Malaking karangalan daw iyon para sa kanila.
Pinasalamatan din ni Atty. Joji si First Lady LAM sa lahat ng tulong at pagsuporta nito sa Sisa, maging sa buong movie industry.
Sabi pa ni Atty. Joji, “I’ve been producing for the last 22 years. And I have never seen someone from the Palace who has been so invested and supported of the industry.
“So we are very grateful to LAM for this. This movie was made with the premise that women continue to fight because they see that there is something worth saving in our country.
“We produced this film to show everyone that the film industry is worth fighting for.
“So we hope that you will extend support for this film in the same way that many people support films of Star Cinema.”

GORGY RULA:
PHP250M ang nagastos para maipatayo ang Philippine Heritage Building, kunsaan naroon ang Cinematheque Manila ng FDCP.
“Ang nag-donate ng pera para i-construct ito ay si Senator Robin Padilla,” pahayag ni FDCP Chairperson Jose Javier Reyes aka Direk Joey.
"Ang nag-help, nag-augment, especially for the construction of the Cinematheque, e, si Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
“At ang pinakahuling tulong na naibigay kaya nabuo itong buong building na ito ay ang First Lady at si Secretary Vince Dizon.”
Si Senator Robin ay nabanggit ni Vice-President Sara Duterte kamakailan na posibleng "running mate" niya sa 2028 elections.
Si Senator Jinggoy ay isa sa mga mambababatas na napabalitang iniimbestigahan kaugnay ng diumano'y maanomalyang mga flood-control projects.
Maging sa Cinemalaya indie filmfest ay tumulong si First Lady Lisa Araneta-Marcos.
“Alam mo, I wish I can talk about it but she does not want me to talk about it,” sambit ni Direk Joey.
Pero aware siya na maraming tulong si LAM sa local movie industry?
“Ay, dyusko! Ay, dyusko! Recently nag-panic button ako dahil sa slash ng budget namin,” pagtatapat ng multi-awarded scriptwriter-director.
“Siya ang tumulong para matuloy iyong mga education programs namin. Siya ang tumulong kaya magkakaroon ng isang acting workshop na ang mentor ay isang Academy award-winning actress.”
FDCP ACTING WORKSHOP
Sinu-sino ang kalahok sa acting workshop na iyon?
“Ang participants ay iyong key talents ng mga major talent center like Star Magic,” tugon ni Direk Joey.
“Ang gagawin, sila ang magsa-suggest. Io-audition nung grupo, and they will pick 20.”
Mga talent ng ABS-CBN, GMA, at TV5 ang inanyayahang mag-audition para sa acting workshop na ito.
Noong nakaraang taon ay nagpa-acting workshop ang FDCP, kunsaan ang nagsanay ay si Angeli Bayani.
Ipinagmalaki ni Direk Joey na ang best workshopper sa batch na iyon ay si JM Ibarra, na nagbida sa Cinemalaya 2025 topgrosser na Child No. 82 (Anak ni Boy Kana).

Cinematheque Manila pa lang ang in-inaugurate ng FDCP upang maging opening film ang Sisa starring Hilda Koronel.
Sa Marso 4, 2026, Miyerkules, showing na ang pelikula kunsaan tampok din sina Eugene Domingo, Jennica Garcia, Tanya Gomez, Angellie Sanoy, Barbara Miguel, Jorrybell Agoto, at Janina Mendoza.
Nasa cast din ng Sisa sina Romnick Sarmenta, Nico Antonio, Kobie Brown, Jess Evardone, Kuya Manzano, Timothy Castillo, Shun Mark Gomez, at Isabel Lamers.
Sa Abril 8 pa ilulunsad ang buong Philippine Heritage Building, kunsaan naroon ang Cinematheque Manila na naka-Dolby.
Naka-display sa hallway ang posters ng mga pelikula ng National Artists. Nandiyan ang Himala at Relasyon ni Ishmael Bernal, Karnal at Moral ni Marilou Diaz-Abaya, Perfumed Nightmare ni Kidlat Tahimik, Genghis Khan ni Manuel Conde, Ang Panday ni Fernando Poe Jr., Ganito Kami Noon… Paano Kayo Ngayon? ni Eddie Romero, Noli Me Tangere ni Gerardo de Leon, Maynila Sa Mga Kuko ng Liwanag ni Lino Brocka, at A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino ni Lamberto V. Avellana.
Magkakatabi ang posters ng Moral, Karnal, at Himala, na pawang screenplay ni Ricky Lee. Bida sa Himala si Nora Aunor.
Nasa lobby ng Cinematheque Manila ang posters ng movies ng relatively contemporary film directors.
Andiyan ang posters ng Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis ni Lav Diaz; Kinatay ni Brillante Mendoza; Bakit May Kahapon Pa? ni Joel Lamangan kunsaan bida si Nora Aunor; Batang PX ni Jose Javier Reyes; Oro, Plata, Mata ni Peque Gallaga; at Magnifico ni Maryo J. de los Reyes.
Magro-rotate ang posters na nasa lobby ng Cinematheque Manila. Idi-display rin doon ang posters ng movies nina Mario O’Hara, Mel Chionglo, Antoinette Jadaone, at iba pa.
“Hopefully by April we will find out if there is another National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts,” sambit ni Direk Joey.
“Naka-stand by na iyung position niya doon sa hallway.”
