Sandamukal na pelikulang Pinoy ang mapapanood nang libre sa Setyembre 2025 sa iba’t ibang venue kaugnay sa pagdiriwang ng Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM).
Meron pang talkback sessions ang karamihan sa free screenings.
Iyong anim na movies sa Pelikula ng Bayan: Sine50 program ay PHP50 (fifty pesos) lang ang admission price bawat movie sa piling sinehan mula Setyembre 17 hanggang 23, 2025.
“Pelikula at Pilipina” ang tema ng PFIM 2025, kung saan punong-abala ang Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) na ang chairperson ay si Jose Javier Reyes o Direk Joey.
Sa opening ceremony sa Lunes, Setyembre 1, sa Red Carpet Cinema 1 ng Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City, may free screening ng pelikulang Ikaw Ay Akin, starring Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, and Christopher de Leon.

INTRAMUROS AS CINEMA HUB
"Ang FDCP, nagkaroon ng partnership with the Intramuros administration,” ani Direk Joey sa mediacon noong Agosto 15, sa Limbaga 77 restaurant, Sct. Limbaga St., Brgy. Laging Handa, Quezon City.
“Nakapunta na ba kayo sa Intramuros lately? Ay! Bongga! Bongga!
“Unang-una, iyong isang dating simbahan, I think Santuario de San Ignacio, ginawa siyang museum.
“Katulad nung ginagawa sa Europe, nire-repurpose mo yung mga old structures. Andoon, may film showings kami, okay.
“And we’ve been doing this every Friday, may mga film showings kami doon sa Centro de Turismo, okay, sa Intramuros.
“Isang venue pa namin is Fort Santiago. We project the movie sa wall.
"So, it’s very casual and, at the same time, it brings back the feeling of community with the sense of history.
“And the third, right beside the soon-to-be new building ng Film Heritage, right behind ahh Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, sa likod nun, yun ang Baluarte de San Diego.
“Magkakaroon kami ng open-air screenings, okay. Doon sa tabi nun, andoon ang bagong building ng Film Heritage, doon lilipat ang FDCP, at andodoon ang bagong Cinematheque.
“Ahh, hopefuly, by the end of the year, nandodoon kami.
"In other words, we’re creating Intramuros into a cinema hub, okay, na andami-daming mga cinematic activities.
“Kasi, andami ring eskuwela na nandodoon, di ba? PLM, Lyceum, Mapua. So we’re trying to create this cinema hub using existing historical structures, okay.”

PFIM SCREENING SCHEDULES
Sa Setyembre 5, Biyernes, ipapalabas nang libre sa Centro de Intramuros ang dalawang pelikula ni National Artist Marilou Diaz-Abaya — Brutal (1:00 P.M.) at Karnal (4:00 P.M.).
Parehong R-18 ang rating, at parehong screenplay ang mga ito ni National Artist Ricky Lee.
Tampok sa Brutal (MMFF 1980) sina Amy Austria, Gina Alajar, Charo Santos, Jay Ilagan, Johnny Delgado, Perla Bautista, at Joonee Gamboa.
Nasa cast ng Karnal (MMFF 1983) sina Phillip Salvador, Vic Silayan, Cecille Castillo, Charito Solis, at Joel Torre.
“This way, we are celebrating Marilou Abaya as a National Artist and her very feminist films,” sambit ni Direk Joey.
Kabilang pa sa mga pelikula ni Direk Marilou ang Moral (1982), Milagros (1997), Sa Pusod ng Dagat (1998), Jose Rizal (1998), Muro-Ami (1999), at Bagong Buwan (2001).

Ang ilan pa sa mga pelikulang mapapanood nang libre next month sa iba’t ibang venue ay Love You To The Stars And Back, Anak Dalita, Anak, Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit, Madrasta, Tanging Yaman, at Sisa.
Naka-post sa Facebook page at website ng FDCP ang schedule ng screenings ng mga ito.
Tuloy ba ang suporta ni First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos sa industriya ng pelikulang Pilipino?
“Alam mo, I’m under the instruction not to talk much about her,” sagot ni FDCP Chair Jose Javier Reyes.
“Because she said that she would rather do things without making it sound like she’s doing things.
“But let me put it this way—she is so supportive of the industry without wanting to flaunt her name.
“Siya ang sumalba ng Cinemalaya!”
For 2026?
“Yeah,” sambit ni Direk Joey.
Iyong CineGang, kung saan nakakatalastasan ni First Lady ang stakeholders ng movie industry, umalis ba ang movie producers dahil sa conflict of interest?
paglilinaw ni Direk Joey, “Hindi. Pinaalis niya ang mga producer kasi, sabi niya, iyong board of directors, hindi puwede ang producer kasi may conflict of interest...
“Kasi, that’s just a floor beneath FDCP right now, hindi ba? That’s where we hold our meetings. Doon gagawin ang Cinemalaya Film Lab.
“So, andaming ano. Ayaw niya, ayaw niya… low-key lang siya, but she’s doing a lot. She’s doing a lot.
“And then lately, we’ve been talking because we want to help another sector.”
Siya nga pala, ang Gala Night ng Philippine Film Industry Month 2025 ay gaganapin sa Setyembre 11, Huwebes, sa Seda Vertis North, Quezon City.
Iho-host ito ni Yanah Laurel. Kabilang sa performers sina Kuh Ledesma, Bituin Escalante, Lara Maigue, Zephanie, at 92 AD. Pararangalan dito sina Raquel Villavicencio, Lee Briones Meily, Gina Alajar, Olivia Lamasan, at Malou Santos.
Dito ia-announce ang opisyal na panlaban ng Pilipinas sa kategoryang Best International Feature ng 98th Oscars o Academy Awards.
Ang pitong pinagpipilian ay Magellan, Sunshine, Food Delivery, Green Bones, Hello, Love, Again, Some Nights I Feel Like Walking, at Song of the Fireflies.
Ipapalabas ang Magellan sa Ayala Malls cinemas umpisa Setyembre 10. Kasabay nito ang showing ng pelikulang Minamahal: 100 Bulaklak para kay Luna.

SINAG MAYNILA SCREENINGS
Setyembre 27, Sabado, ang closing ceremony ng PFIM 2025 sa Robinsons Manila. Makikisaya rito sina River Joseph, Will Ashley, Michael Sager, at Esnyr ng PBB Celebrity Collab, plus Mr. Fu.
May overlap ang PFIM 2025 sa 7th edition ng Sinag Maynila indie filmfest na gaganapin sa Setyembre 24-30, 2025.
PHP250 ang ticket price sa mga sinehan.
As of press time, ang mga pagpapalabasan ng Sinag Maynila 2025 entries ay Gateway, Robinsons Manila, Robinsons Antipolo, SM Mall of Asia, at SM Fairview.
Tampok dito ang limang full length films, 14 documentaries, at 41 short films.
Ang limang full length films sa Sinag Maynila 2025 ay Selda Tres, Madawag Ang Landas Patungong Pag-Asa, Jeongbu, Conde, at Altar Boy.

Ang Sinag Maynila independent film festival ay itinatag nina Sir Wilson Tieng at Direk Brillante Mendoza noong 2015.
Sa Oktubre 3-12 naman ang Cinemalaya 2025 indie filmfest sa Shangri-La Plaza Cinemas, EDSA cor. Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City.
Sabi ni FDCP Chairman Jose Javier Reyes: “Nasa selection committee pa ako ng batch na ito ng Cinemalaya, di ba? Kasi, umalis lang naman ako noong naging chairman ako, ano.
“Ahh excited ako! Excited ako sa mga pelikula rito.
"Excited akong mapanood iyong Warla, iyong puro transgender. Kasi nakakatawa ang script nun.”
