“It is possible to be happy but in a superficial way. So we ask the Lord to be with us now so that we can learn to be profoundly happy.

“Of course we all know na si Direk Joey Reyes ang pinunong bastonero ng FDCP.
“Noong binata na ako, ah, because I like his films because they are very real. Lahat ng sitwasyon, makatotohanan. Even mga dialogues, makatotohanan.
“And he made really, really powerful movies. So powerful na napapansin ng isang MTRCB head because of one of his films…
“By the way, ang FDCP, andaming naitulong nito sa mga grants, at dumaan sa antas ng pelikulang Pilipino at nakilala abroad because of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.”
"Finally the three important agencies dedicated to the protection of the interests of the Filipino Film Community have come together to manifest a solid front meant I push local cinema back to the forefront.
“ARAW NG PAGKAKAISA brings together all the stakeholders of the film industry to meet the challenge in creating a revitalized, more innovative and globally competitive Filipino cinema.”
At any rate, pagkatapos ng report ni FDCP Chair Joey Reyes, nagsabi ang host na si Butch: “Andami nating tao dito sa bulwagan, pero gusto kong sabihin, ang pinakaimportanteng tao ngayon in this hall ay walang iba kundi the most senior member of the Philippine movie industry.
“She is 98, turning 99 next month. Who would have said she’s 99 years old?

Ani Direk Perci: “There’s a change in the air for Philippine Cinema. Today marks the Araw ng Pagkakaisa of the FDCP, FAP and Mowelfund pledging to work as one with all the Guilds present.
“But coincidentally, it’s a week filled with notable wins: among them, Sunshine, on its 3rd week continuing to draw audiences here and now also abroad, Food Delivery finished its special run at Powerplant and announced their Aug 13 release in Ayala and Gateway Cinemas, Lasting Moments is the season’s sleeper hit with even more cinemas on its 2nd week.
“Then all the international festival announcements for films, like Honey My Love So Sweet in Locarno, Ali and Agapito in Toronto, and Watersports in New York, and I know of more coming that cannot be announced yet.
“Plus coming releases Quezon, 100 Awit Para Kay Stella, and even Mudrasta are getting a lot of online love to push their campaigns.
“This is a series of wins for an industry that has badly needed good news for so long. But more importantly, it’s not one player, these are different producers each enjoying their share.
“Maybe it’s not all headline grabbing news for some, but look at the big picture and you realizes this is indeed remarkable.
“It is a clear sign that in this uphill battle, the industry is finally gaining momentum again. ‘Slowly but Shirley’ ika nga, pero as we always say, laban lang!
“Laban lang, Pelikulang Pilipino!”
