Walang kinatatakutan si Ms. Gloria Diaz, pero marami ang natatakot para sa kanya, lalo na sa mga sinasabi niya.
"I know, that’s what they say," natatawang sambit ni Miss Universe 1969 sa mediacon ng Regal horror movie na Untold nitong Marso 31, Lunes ng hapon, sa Valencia Events Place, Quezon City.
"My daughter wrote on my Instagram, 'Without filter since 1969.'
"No, I try. Kasi nowadays, I always have to try to lower...not say everything kasi napapahiya sila [whoever is the subject].
"Or I’m quoted, sometimes, taken wrongly."
Ang tinutukoy niyang daughter ay si Isabelle Daza, na "no filter" ang nilagay sa "one word that perfectly describes your mom" for her Mother's Day post noong 2018.
Pero lagi naman siyang navi-vindicate, di ba?
“In a way, I’m able to explain why I said this and why I said that. But in truth, I’m trying very hard,” pagtatapat ni Gloria.
“Not always successful to be more, you know, sedate, more careful, medyo filtered. Pero lumalabas din, e.
“[In] the end, I also always say what I want.”
Naisip ba niyang gumawa ng libro kung saan ise-share ang “untold” stories sa buhay niya?
Mabilis na tugon ni Gloria, “No. Too many men, too little time.”

GLORIA DIAZ ON BEAUTY PAGEANTS THEN AND NOW
If there’s one thing na ayaw niya sa beauty-pageant scene ngayon, ano ito?
“Ahhhm, I don’t like too much yung training-training-training,” sagot ni Gloria.
“Kasi at the end, I’m always a judge, ano. In fact they talk to me if I can be a judge forever, and the thing is, they all look alike.
“In fact when I do judging, hirap na hirap talaga ako kasi ambilis! Hindi ko na maalala!
“And I also don’t like that they are judged by what they answer. Kasi sometimes, the answer is so complicated I myself always cannot understand what they’re saying.
“This is not an IQ contest, e, it’s a beauty contest.
"It’s okay with me all the plastic surgery and all that. I don’t care.
“But I don’t like these very parang genius answers and people think just because you could speak English, magaling ka na. Hindi.
“Sa akin, gusto ko nga, mag-Tagalog sila, e, para it’s more from the heart. Or Bisaya or whatever.
“But yun, ayoko yung masyadong trained na pati turning, pati tingin, pati tayo, I don’t like that, e.
"Wala na...tapos pag-ikot mo sa likod, iba na sila, hindi ba?
"The natural. So I want to see a more natural person.”

GLORIA DIAZ ON MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT'S INCLUSIVITY
May mga nagsasabing nawawalan na ng ningning ang Miss Universe.
“Yes and no. Because the Miss Universe kasi is different now, hindi ba?” sabi ni Gloria.
“The Miss Universe now, I think, basta iba, iba na talaga. They made it more, how do you say that? Inclusive, hindi ba?
“Even if you’re a mother with a kid, I think there’s no age limit na ngayon, you can be a man, you can be whatever.
“But I’m not really for that. Kasi Miss Universe should be mga ganun, 18 to 25, 26 [years old].
“During my time, when you’re above 23, 24, they always say, ‘And now, the oldest candidate for Miss Universe, 24-year-old something-something!’ Right?
“So parang naninibago ako.
"But I try to adjust, kasi marami namang magagandang 28 years old, ano.
“Pero I’m not crazy about you know all the changes that’s happening.
"And of course like I said, I always wanted to speak in their language, whatever they’re comfortable…
“I’m not impressed [with] those big words na diaspora, serendipity. Parang balewala naman iyan sa akin. Hindi ba?"
Andami na ngayong mga beauty pageants, alin ang maiko-consider niyang top 3?
“Siyempre, Miss Universe pa rin. And there’s nothing next.”

GLORIA DIAZ'S BIRTHDAY WISH
Ano ang birthday wish ni Ms. Gloria Diaz para sa sarili?
"Hmmnn health, wealth, and time to spend it,” ang malumanay na sagot ng unang Pinay na Miss Universe.
She will be turning 74 years old, sa Sabado, Abril 5, 2025.
Sabi pa ni Gloria, wala talaga siyang birthday wish.
Sa nakaraang 28 years, kapag kaarawan niya ay nagdi-dinner sila sa labas ng kanyang boyfriend.
This time, wish niyang sa bahay na lang mag-celebrate.
Most likely, ang unico hijo niyang si Rafael ang makakasama sa mga anak.
Ang daughter niyang si Isabelle ay nakabase kasi sa Hong Kong with her own family.
Ang isa pang daughter niyang si Ava ay may sarili na ring pamilya.
Back to her wish, gusto ni Gloria na manatiling healthy, "kasi ganun daw yun, e, pag 74, you have to think of health and stuff like that."
Nang sabihan si Gloria na hindi siya mukhang 74, nagbiro siya, "Nasa plastic surgery iyan, e!”

Paano name-maintain ni Gloria Diaz ang kanyang magandang disposisyon sa buhay?
“How do I maintain? By being busy, working, having many friends, ahhh, of course, my children,” sagot ni Gloria.
“My apos. Ahh boyfriend. But he’s not a boyfriend, I’ve been with him 28 years already.”
Nag-i-smoke ba siya? Umiinom ng alak?
“Never! I drink a little wine but more champagne. Of course, I exercise. Massage. Steam. Hair, make-up, everything.
“I don’t leave any stone unturned. And, of course I’m learning to do social media. You also have to go with the times.
“Hindi puwedeng, ‘Ayoko na iyan, ayoko!’ You really have to keep up with everything.
“Every day, I ask my daughter, ‘Ano ba itong ganito? Ano ba ito?’ ‘Mom! Yadadadada!’ They get angry. But I try.”
