Pang-anim agad-agad sa pinakamalakas na movie this year as far as worldwide gross is concerned itong D&W, na humamig na ng $444.6M. Nakakataranta!!
Take note na ang unang pelikula ng 2024 na lumampas sa $100M ang domestic gross sa opening weekend ay ang pampamilyang animated comedy na Inside Out 2, with $154.2M. Noong Hunyo 14-16 iyon.
DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS
Ang hula ng karamihan ay nasa pagitan ng $160M at $175M ang opening weekend gross ng R-rated na Deadpool & Wolverine. Pero ayun na nga, lumampas iyon sa tarantadong $200M-mark!!
Pinaka-super-duper na paglulunsad ito sa lipon ng R-rated films! Ang dating record-holder na R-rated film ay ang Deadpool na $133.7M ang opening weekend gross.
Iyong Deadpool 2 ay $125.5M ang debut.

Heto ang nasabi niya sa pelikula: “We saw DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE and I was appalled by the meaningless violence that meant nothing but a cash grab for Marvel Studios in a desperate attempt after several of its latest films failed at the box office.
“It worked and made more than $200 million over the weekend in the United States. In the movie Deadpool called himself ‘the Marvel Jesus’ several times, unequivocally comparing himself to the Christian Saviour and Humankind’s Redeemer, yet proceeded to murder, kill, disembody, and decapitate dozens of people in an orgy of blood and violence, and we hear nothing from Christians about what is so obviously a gross mockery of their religion.
“In the same weekend we see a gentle reminder in Paris that queer and transgender persons were now invited to and welcome at the table where for hundreds of years we have been excluded.
“Paris was a message of love and inclusivity and used a familiar tableau to witty effect and a gentle poke at our religion which has not always been kind to the LGBTQI+ community, whereas Marvel’s was a puerile attempt to make people laugh by referencing Jesus and declaring that nothing was beyond its cinematic greed.
“The problem has always been and remains to be homophobia and transphobia: Paris paraded men in dresses and women with beards, and this repelled many. But invoking the name of God in a nihilistic violent blood-splattered orgy does not and is actually rewarded with millions of dollars at the box office. This is the world we live in, one of selective blindness and hypocrisy. But for now, I will focus on Paris and its celebration of queer culture and love in all its permutations.
