Nagtatrabaho si Juliana Gomez bilang researcher sa opisina ng ama niyang si Congressman Richard “Goma” Gomez.
“It’s good,” napangiting sambit ni Juliana habang katabi si Cong. Goma noong Oktubre 17, 2022, Lunes nang gabi sa Ormoc City Museum.
“I’ve only watched him work as an outsider. But now that I actually work with him, I see how fast-paced he is. Very dedicated. Very hard working.
The team behind him, they have to keep up. But I’ve been learning a lot because he has all the passion for what he does.
“Very interested in everything that’s going on. So we’re also forced to be the same wave. There’s a really good and healthy work culture in the office.”
Bilang isa sa staff ni Cong. Goma, ang official designation ni Juliana ay Political Officer 3. Nasa ilalim si Juliana ng Chief of Staff ng kanyang ama.
“I’m under many bosses. I have a lot of bosses,” pakli ni Juliana.
So far, ano ang pinakamahirap na iniutos o ipinagawa sa kanya?
“It’s basic research, really. It’s basic work. But it’s more of like how much there is to do and how fast he works,” tugon ni Juliana.
“He’s very, very quick. He likes to do a lot of things at the same time in a very efficient way.
“So you know, like we’re done with the adjustment period, I’d say. We’re done adjusting so we get how he works. It’s all going well.”
Nae-enjoy niya ang pagtatrabaho bilang isa sa staff ni Cong. Goma?
Mabilis na sumagot si Juliana, “I do, I do. Because it coincides with my course in UP. Public Administration.”
Paghahanda na ba ito para sumunod siya sa mga yapak ng kanyang mga magulang na parehong public servant?
“Well, in my head I’m thinking… preparation for what? Because I don’t really know what I’m gonna be doing in the next few months, what more in the next few years,” pag-amin ni Juliana.
“Coz I’m so very young and I’m still in college. I’m just lucky that I got the opportunity to work with him, and that his work is in Congress.”
Anong best lesson ang natutunan niya sa kanyang ina na kasalukuyang mayor ng Ormoc City, si Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez?
“Oh, they just always taught me to be a really good person. It’s the first thing that pops up in my head,” saad ni Juliana.
“Being good people, it’s taken them very far in life. I’ll say that.”

Tuloy pa rin si Juliana sa pagpe-fencing.
“Yes of course. It’s still a big, big dream of mine and I hope to accomplish more in the coming years. I’m just getting started,” malumanay na sagot ni Juliana.
Nakakaeskrimahan niya si Cong. Goma.
“He was a national fencer. So I’m lucky to get to play with him. But I’m also lucky that he gets to watch me play and he experiences my wins with me,” kuwento ni Juliana.
“He’s also there when I lose, you know. So there’s definitely a bond because we’re both very much into the sport up to now.
“He’s still very interested and he still plays also.”
Naikumpara si Juliana sa South Korean actress na si Kim Tae-ri, na gumanap bilang fencer sa 2022 K-drama series na Twenty-Five Twenty-One.
“The plot is centered on fencing. I think all fencers in the Philippines are compared to the star of the show, kasi, konti lang kami na fencers, e,” sambit ni Juliana.

“Nothing, I just had the time and I felt like I haven’t got a hair cut so…”
Nababalanse ni Juliana ang kanyang oras. Lunes hanggang Huwebes, nagtatrabaho siya sa opisina ng kanyang ama sa Kongreso.
Meron siyang online classes bilang college student. Patuloy ang pagsasanay niya sa fencing. At meron siyang love life.
Kumusta na ang boyfriend niyang si Miggy Bautista?
“He’s good. Now he’s good… but that’s not my priority. Like now I’m actually working under a hard-working boss and I have to finish school,” pahayag ni Juliana.
“And I want to go to training because I have goals to reach.”

Youth, sports, education, and good governance ang gustong pagtuunan ng pansin ni Juliana at nandoon ang kanyang interes. Wala sa showbiz.
“Maybe at the most I wanted to take up film. And that feeling was reinforced because dad told me take up film also,” lahad ninJuliana.
“But it was… I guess like a passing interest because when I was in my fourth year in high school, I thought it’s not something that I might want to take up.
“So I ended up in Public Administration and I couldn’t be happier with what I chose.”
Nabanggit ni Juliana na may nag-offer sa kanyang mag-morning show pero hindi nag-prosper.
Priority pa rin niya ang kanyang pag-aaral at ang kanyang trabaho sa Kongreso.
Nang i-bring up ko sa kanya ang pangarap namin sa kanya ni Juan Sarte (batikang make up artist) na maging cover ng bagong Vogue Philippines, natuwa si Juliana at ang kanyang amang si Congressman Goma.
“She deserves it. She has in her blood a mix of sports, politics, and even show business and the arts,” pagmamalaki ng kanyang butihing ama.
Ang sabi ni Juliana, “It’s a great honor, if ever, but I think I should achieve more.”
Mangyayari rin iyan kaya itaga ninyo sa bato. Sana talaga, ipag-adya ng Diyos na maging successful si Juliana sa career na papasukin niya and yes, sana matuloy na maging cover siya ng Vogue Philippines.
