Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng National Disability Rights Week (NDRW) 2025, inihahandog ng Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT Line 2) ang libreng sakay para sa mga Persons with Disability (PWDs) ngayong July 17–23, 2025.
Ang libreng sakay ay mula 7:00 A.M. hanggang 9:00 A.M., at 5:00 P.M. hanggang 7:00 P.M.
Inianunsiyo ito ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa official Facebook page nito last July 15.
Para sa libreng sakay, ipapakita lang ng PWDs ang kanilang Person with Disability ID sa ticket booth o station personnel.

Sa inilabas na pahayag ni DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, ang pitong araw na libreng sakay sa LRT Line 2 ay naisakatuparan sa pamamagitan ng partnership ng Department of Transportation (DOTr), Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), at ng National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), isang attached agency ng DSWD.
Ani Dumlao: “The directive of the President is for the government to rally together to safeguard the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities and help provide opportunities for them.
“In fact, we have the NDRW in line with Proclamation No. 597 signed in June 2024, devoting July 17-23 of every year in celebrating the rights of the sector.”
Sa ilalim ng Proclamation No. 597, ang DSWD, sa pamamagitan ng NCDA, ay inaatasang pangunahan at pangasiwaan ang pakikipag-ugnayan para sa paggunita ng NDRW sa buong bansa.
Ayon pa kay Dumlao, ang pagkakaloob ng mga libreng serbisyo ay malaki ang maitutulong sa PWDs na regular na bumibiyahe sa pamamagitan ng pampublikong transportasyon papasok at pauwi mula sa trabaho o school.

FIFTY PERCENT FARE DISCOUNT FOR SENIORS, PWDS LAUNCHED
Samantala, inilunsad naman ang 50-percent fare discount para sa senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) sa train systems ng Metro Manila ngayong July 16, 2025.
Saklaw nito ang Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) at Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2.
Ayon sa anunsiyo ng DOTr-MRT-3 sa Facebook, bahagi ito ng initiatives para matulungan ang vulnerable sectors na limitado ang kinikita.
Dahil dito, tumaas ng 30 percent ang fare discount mula sa dating 20 percent discount.
Noong June 20 ay nauna nang binigyan ng 50-percent discount fare ang mga estudyante.
