Singapore opens ASEAN scholarship for Filipino students

Students from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao can apply.

Tumatanggap na ngayon ang Singaporean government ng mga aplikasyon mula sa mga Pilipinong estudyante—Grade 9 pataaspara sa ASEAN (Association of Asian Nations) scholarships.

Ayon sa Singapore Ministry of Education, valid ang naturang scholarships sa loob ng apat na taon.

Ang mga makakapasa ay sasailalim sa programang pang-edukasyon ng Singapore mula Secondary 3 hanggang Pre-University 2, paakyat sa Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level certificate o katulad na kuwalipikasyon.

Maire-renew ang scholarship kada taon batay sa magiging performance ng scholar.

NO MAXIMUM NUMBERS OF SCHOLARS

Sinabi naman ni Singaporean Ambassador to the Philippines Constance See na ia-assess ng ministry kung anong grade level magsisimula ang matatanggap na applicants.

Ani Lee sa panayam sa kanya ng Philippine News Agency ngayong January 22, 2025, “The scholarship is for Filipinos born between January 2, 2009 to January 1, 2012.”

Ang good news, walang limit ang posibleng ma-qualify sa scholarship.

“I wouldn’t indicate a maximum number to be awarded as it depends on how many can meet the criteria,” pahayag pa ni Lee.

Ibinahagi rin ng ambassador na noong 2023, ang MOE ay tumanggap ng 15 Pilipinong scholars.

Dalawampu’t dalawa naman noong nakaraang taon.

“They came from all across the Philippines—Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

“We hope to receive applications from bright and deserving Filipino student.”

WHO ARE QUALIFIED, WHAT ARE THE INCENTIVES, AND HOW TO APPLY

Para maging kuwalipikado sa scholarship, ang isang applicant ay dapat na:

  • Born between January 2, 2009 to January 1, 2012
  • Currently in Grade 9 or above
  • Proficient in English
  • Have done consistently well in school examinations
  • Have a good record of participation in co-curricular activities.

Sasagutin naman ng scholarship ang mga sumusunod:

  • Annual allowance with hostel accommodation
  • Settling-in allowance
  • Return economy airfare
  • School fees
  • Examination fees for GCE O-Level and A-Level (once only, as applicable)
  • Subsidized medical benefits and insurance cover for accidents.

Ang deadline para sa application ay hanggang sa February 21, 2025.
