Trigger Warning: Mention of bullying
“Ang sakit ng ginawa nila sa anak ko. Grabe, super sakit.”
Ito ang himutok ni Alfred Vargas nang kumustahin ng Cabinet Files ang kalagayan ng kanyang pitong taong gulang na anak na biktima umano ng bullying.
Kaugnay nito, nagdesisyon si Alfred at ang kanyang misis na si Yasmine Espiritu na maghain ng reklamong paglabag sa Section 10 (a) ng Republic Act No.7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination) laban sa mga magulang ng nam-bully umano sa kanilang anak.
Napag-alaman namin mula kay Alfred na ang ama ng batang nam-bully umano sa kanilang anak ay ang kapwa niya aktor na si Rob Sy.
Si Rob ay naging bahagi ng reality show na Survivor Philippines Season 1 noong 2008, at pagkatapos nito ay sinimulan na niya ang kanyang showbiz career.

Si Rob at ang partner nito ang sinampahan nila ng reklamo dahil nagkulang umano ang mga ito sa kanilang legal duty sa ilalim ng Family Code na disiplinahin ang kanilang eight-year-old son.
Nakasaad sa press statement ng mga Vargas: “Despite having actual knowledge of prior similar incidents that occurred during swimming sessions, the parents allegedly failed to take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of the dangerous behavior.
“This negligence enabled acts prejudicial to the Vargas child’s welfare, which constitutes child abuse under Section 10(a) of RA 7610. The law penalizes acts that cause psychological or emotional suffering, even in the absence of physical injury, as supported by established jurisprudence.
“The legal action stems from a pattern of conduct where the respondents’ minor child repeatedly pushed and held the Vargases’ son underwater during swimming training sessions.
“These bullying incidents, by way of drowning the Vargas couple’s child, occurred several times despite efforts, reminders, and appeals made by the Vargases to the parents of the bully to tell their child to stop and to manage the minor’s conduct.”

PLACE OF THE LAST BULLYING INCIDENT
Sa Manila Prosecutor’s Office at hindi sa Quezon City naghain ng reklamo sina Alfred at Yasmine noong Lunes, Abril 13, 2026.
Paliwanag ng aktor, nangyari umano sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex sa Maynila noong Pebrero 8, 2026 ang huling insidente ng bullying sa kanilang anak.
“Sa Manila kasi nangyari yung last bullying,” sabi ni Alfred sa Cabinet Files.
Kinumpirma ni Alfred na sumasailalim ngayon sa counselling at therapy ang kanyang anak dahil sa trauma na naranasan nito mula sa nam-bully umano rito.
Nagpapasalamat naman si Alfred sa Ateneo de Manila community dahil sa mga mensahe ng suportang natatanggap nila ng kanyang pamilya matapos nilang maghain ni Yasmine ng reklamo sa Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
Saad ng actor-politician: “We would like to thank the Ateneo community for their messages of support and concern.
"The bullying incident happened outside the school premises and I am grateful to the university administration for keeping our campus a safe and inclusive place for our children."
Wala pang pahayag ang kampo nina Rob Sy tungkol sa isinampang reklamo nina Alfred Vargas at Yasmine Espiritu.
