Hindi pa rin natatapos ang mga kontrobersya na may kaugyanan sa mga kandidata ng 74th Miss Universe dahil bukod sa mga isyu tungkol sa reigning Miss Universe na si Fatima Bosch, binawi ng Miss Finland Organization ang korona ni Sarah Dzafce.
Si Dzafce ang nagwaging Miss Finland noong Setyembre 6, 2025, at siya ang naging kinatawan ng kanilang bansa sa 74th Miss Universe na ginanap noong Nobyembre 21 sa Nonthaburi, Thailand. Tumagal lamang ng tatlong buwan ang kanyang reign.
Inakusahan na racist si Dzafce dahil sa larawang ibinahagi nito sa social media na nagpapakitang nagpapanggap siyang singkit ang mga mata, na itinuturing na isang racist gesture.
Ang first runner-up ni Dzafce sa Miss Finland 2025 na si Tara Lehtonen, 23, ang bagong title-holder matapos bawiin ang korona ng una.
MISS FINLAND ORGANIZATION'S STATEMENT
Noong Disyembre 11, naglabas ng opisyal na pahayag ang Miss Finland Organization tungkol sa inasal ni Dzafce at sa desisyon nilang bawiin ang kanyang korona.
"Miss Finland has been selected since 1931. For over 90 years, this title has represented Finnish values such as respect, equality, responsibility, and human dignity.
“These values are not mere words to us — they are the foundation of our entire work. The Miss Finland title is a position of trust, representing Finland and the Finnish people to the world.
“The events of recent days have caused deep hurt, disappointment, and concern both in Finland and internationally — fully understandably.
“The content published on the reigning Miss Finland’s social media has been offensive, harmful, and completely against the values of the Miss Finland competition.
“We are deeply sorry for the harm these events have caused. Especially to the Asian community, but also to everyone affected. Racism is never acceptable in any form.
“We have handled this situation carefully, responsibly, and without rushing into decisions.
“We have consulted experts and assessed the entire chain of events thoroughly.
“In accordance with our values, we met with Miss Finland Sarah this morning, immediately after her return to Finland, to address the matter face-to-face.
“For clarity, we would like to state once more that we waited for her return specifically so that the matter could be evaluated in person.
“Following this thorough consideration, we have made a difficult but necessary decision:
“The title of Miss Finland held by Sarah Dzafce has been revoked as of today. This decision is not about a person’s human worth, but about responsibility.
“When an individual carries a national and international representative role, actions and responsibility are inseparable.
"Miss Finland holds a position of role-model status, which requires respecting all people regardless of their origin, background, or appearance.
“On a personal note, I would like to say: We wish Sarah all the best in her future. A person can grow and learn — that is always possible.
“The title of Miss Finland requires a high level of responsibility. In this situation, the conditions required to continue in this role were not met.”
DZAFCE, SAYS SORRY
Inihingi ni Dzafce ng paumanhin ang kanyang pagkakamali. Sinabi niya na: "I fully understand that my actions have caused ill will in many people and I am deeply sorry for that.
"I want to apologize especially to those who have been personally affected by this situation. That was not my intention in any way.
"I know that I still have a lot to grow. One of the most important things for me is respect for people, their backgrounds and differences. What matters to me is that everyone can be themselves and be treated with dignity.”
Nalaman naman ni Lehtonen na siya ang ipinalit kay Dzafce dahil sa tawag sa telepono na natanggap niya noong Disyembre 10 mula kay Sunneva Sjögrén, ang Miss Finland Organization director.
Isang malaking sorpresa para kay Lehtonen ang ibinalita sa kanya ni Sjögrén pero tinanggap niya ang alok na maging kapalit ni Sarah.
Noong Huwebes, Disyembre 11, personal na nagkaharap sina Lethonen at Dzafce, nagyakapan sila bago naganap ang press conference tungkol sa dethronement ng huli bilang Miss Finland.
Ginamit ni Lethonen ang kanyang social media para iparating sa publiko ang desisyon niya na tanggapin ang alok ng Miss Finland Organization na maging kapalit ni Dzafce.
“Today, I have accepted the title of Miss Finland 2025. I promise to carry this title with pride and deep respect. From the very beginning of my journey, I have said that this is not just a title for me, but a responsibility, an opportunity, and a sign of trust.
“This situation is completely exceptional, and the fact that my role as Miss Finland begins in the middle of the year makes this journey different from usual. Even though the starting point is not traditional, I will do my best to turn it into an opportunity and to fulfill my duties well and with dignity.
“This is the beginning of a new chapter, and I am ready to give it my all. Thank you for walking this journey with me,” pahayag ni Lethonen.
Hindi pa siya nagsasalita tungkol sa international beauty pageant na posibleng salihan dahil nagawa pa ni Sarah na maging kinatawan ng Finland sa 74th Miss Universe bago ito nasangkot sa kontrobersya na naging mitsa para bawiin ang kanyang korona.
