Suportado ng Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Robert De Niro ang desisyon ng kanyang anak na si Aaron De Niro na lumantad bilang black transgender woman.
Mula sa Aaron ay Airyn na ngayon ang ginagamit na pangalan ng 29-year-old na anak ni De Niro sa aktres na si Toukie Smith.
Pahayag ng 81-year-old actor: “I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter.
"I don’t know what the big deal is. I love all my children."
Si Airyn ang isa sa pitong anak ni De Niro. Mayroon siyang kakambal na nagngangalang Julian.

Nag-umpisa ang hormone therapy ni Airyn noong Nobyembre 2024 dahil sa kagustuhan niyang magkaroon na pisikal na anyo ng isang babae.
“There’s a big difference between being visible and being seen. I’ve been visible.I don’t think I’ve been seen yet,” rebelasyon ni Airyn sa panayam sa kanya ng Them.

LATE BLOOMER
“Late bloomer” ang pakiramdam ni Airyn dahil matagal bago siya nagpasyang isapubliko ang kanyang tunay na pagkatao.
Saad niya: “I’d want to hopefully be an inspiration for at least one other person like me who is Black, who is queer, who’s not a size extra small.
“I’d want to see more transwomen, more Black women who are maybe bigger-bodied or don’t fit the mold of super thin or heroin chic.”
Sinabi rin ni Airyn sa panayam ng Them na nag-aaral siya para maging mental health counselor at nagsusumikap maging advocate ng mental health bilang suporta sa mga colored at queer people.
“I would want [success] to happen on my own merit," aniya.
"Obviously, no parent is perfect, but I am grateful that both my parents agreed to keep me out of the limelight.
"They have told me to have as much of a normal childhood as possible.”
