Iniulat ng kanyang pamilya at mga kasamahan sa St. Vincent Hospital sa Southwest Portland, Oregon, na nawawala si Melissa mula pa noong Setyembre 4, 2024.

Ayon sa Beaverton Police, nakita ang bangkay ni Melissa noong Biyernes, Setyembre 6.
Kaugnay nito, dinakip ng mga awtoridad ang kapitbahay niyang si Bryce Johnathan Schubert dahil ito ang pinaghihinalaang may kinalaman sa pagpaslang kay Melissa.
Naganap ang krimen ilang araw matapos bumalik si Melissa sa Portland, Oregon mula sa kasal nila ni Bryan Llantero na idinaos sa Honolulu, Hawaii noong Agosto 24, 2024.

Ayon sa mga ulat, magkasama sina Melissa at Bryan noong Labor Day, Setyembre 2, at bumalik si Melissa sa kanyang apartment sa Beaverton, Oregon, noong araw ring iyon.
Ayon sa mother-in-law ni Melissa, sa apartment naninirahan ang biktima dahil malapit ito sa kanyang pinagtatrabahuhan; habang ang anak niyang si Bryan ay nakatira sa Bremerton, Washington, kasama ang pamilya ni Melissa.
Huli raw nagkaroon ng contact si Bryan sa kanyang asawa ay bandang 6 A.M. noong September 4.

Headline ng news outlets sa Amerika ang pagpatay kay Melissa.
Sa Facebook post ng Beaverton Police noong Setyembre 7, ibinigay nila ang mga detalye ng kanilang imbestigasyon.
Pero walang impormasyon sa pamamaraan ng pagpaslang sa biktima.
Nakasaad dito: “Investigation Update — Melissa Jubane Found Deceased
“On September 4, 2024, at approximately 10:18 AM, the Beaverton Police Department received a welfare check request for 32-year-old Melissa Jubane of Beaverton.
"Melissa, a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in SW Portland, had not reported for her morning shift, raising concerns among her coworkers, friends, and family.
"Beaverton Police officers responded to Melissa’s residence at 1050 SW 160th Avenue, in Beaverton.
“Upon arrival, officers were met by staff from the apartment complex and conducted a search of Melissa’s apartment. Melissa was not present, and her absence without communication was deemed unusual and alarming.
“Efforts by officers and family members to contact Melissa throughout the day were unsuccessful, as her phone appeared to be turned off. Additionally, searches of Melissa’s bank and credit card records yielded no new information regarding her location.
“At 3:12 PM on September 4th, Melissa was entered into national law enforcement databases as a missing person.
“As a result of an extensive investigation, it was determined that one of Melissa’s neighbors, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert of Beaverton was involved in her disappearance.
“Subsequently, Schubert was arrested this evening and charged with Melissa’s murder. Melissa Jubane’s remains have been recovered.
“This is an active investigation. While we acknowledge the significant community interest and concern, we must withhold further details to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

Second-degree murder ang kasong isinampa ng Beaverton Police laban sa 27-year-old na si Schubert, na isa ring nurse at nagtrabaho sa Providence Portland Medical Center mula Setyembre 2022 hanggang Oktubre 2023.
