Ngayong January 30, 2022 ang 77th birthday ng veteran, respected, at multi-awarded actress na si Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo.
Hindi lamang siya matriarch ng kanyang pamilya dahil matriarch din siya ng Philippine movie and television industry.
Bilang pag-iingat laban sa banta ng COVID-19, magdiriwang lamang ng kaarawan si Boots sa kanyang tahanan, pero magkakaroon sila ng Zoom gathering ng pamilya niya.
“I am celebrating my birthday at home with just my husband, Atty. King Rodrigo, and my son Joey, who lives in the building next to us.
“My daughter, Chiqui, her husband Congressman Robbie Puno, and children Randy, Nick, and Sabrina are still in self-quarantine due to their exposure to COVID cases in the household and in the district that Robbie represents in Antipolo.
“May Zoom gathering kami with my two other children in Virginia: Leah, husband Russell Cuevas, and their children Katrina, Ryan, Jessica and Rachel; and my son Ben, his wife Michelle and their children Ethan and Mia,” sabi ni Boots nang makausap siya ng Cabinet Files.
Ang pagkakaroon ng mabuting kalusugan, hindi nawawalan ng mga acting project, at patuloy na pagiging aktibo sa kanyang mga adbokasiya ang ilan sa mga araw-araw na ipinagpapasalamat ni Boots sa Panginoong Diyos.
“I am grateful for the good health I am enjoying, the comfortable yet simple life I am sharing with my husband, King [aged 83]; a still active career on TV [Mano Po Legacy]; my continuing involvement in advocacies like providing scholarships for some children and continuing work as Chairman of Mowelfund for our industry workers; an active spiritual life and the love of my children and grandchildren kahit magkakahiwalay kami.
“My birthday wish is to know what God still wants me to do at my age and that He grant me the wherewithal and the courage to fulfill his mission for me.
“Siguro, good health na lang at means to help others and the appreciation for the many blessings God has given me ang birthday wishes ko,” pagbabahagi ng veteran actress.
HIGHLIGHTS OF HER LIFE
Nang itanong ng Cabinet Files ang mga itinuturing niyang highlights ng kanyang buhay, ang unang asawang si Pete Roa na namayapa noong August 9, 2007 at ang kanilang mga anak ang ilan sa mga sagot na ibinigay ni Boots.
Saad niya, “Ang highlights sa buhay ko ay ang 43 years na ibinigay sa akin with my late husband Pete Roa and the four wonderful children He gave us.
“Also a TV and film and public service career, as teacher and advocate that has spanned some 50 years.
“I have been blessed with the grace to combine marriage and career rather successfully.
"And finally, a second chance at love and marriage with King who I consider God's greatest gift to me in my later years."
Hindi lamang ang 77th birthday ang ipagdiriwang ni Boots ngayon dahil ang 2022 rin ang 60th year ng kanyang acting career.
Malaking hamon para sa mga kabataang artista na mapantayan o mahigitan ang mga tagumpay ni Boots bilang ulirang aktres at haligi ng industriya ng pelikulang Pilipino dahil namumukod-tangi siya.
Sa anim na dekada ng acting career ni Boots, hindi siya nasangkot sa mga intriga at kontrobersiya kaya nananatili ang mataas na respeto sa kanya ng mga kasamahan niya sa industriya at ng mga manonood.
