Ito ay kaugnay ng balitang pasok siya bilang isa sa mga modelo sa Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2018.
Noong 2016 ay na-feature si Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon sa isang Victoria's Secret campaign commercial, subalit hindi niya nagawang mapabilang sa Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
Si Kelsey, 21, ang kauna-unahang Pinay na rarampa sa prestigious fashion show.
Bagamat malaking karangalan ang pagpasok ni Kelsey sa Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, may ilan pa ring Pinoy na disappointed dito.
Sa Twitter, may mga netizen na nagsasabing hindi raw mukhang Filipina si Kelsey.
Gusto raw nilang makakita ng modelo na hitsura at kulay ng tunay na Filipino.

Sumagot si Kelsey sa mga ito para ipagtanggol ang sarili.
Ayon sa modelo, ipinanganak at lumaki siya sa Pilipinas.
Kahit hindi man siya purong Pinoy, mas Pilipino pa raw siya sa mga “pure” Pinoy pero hindi pa nakakatapak sa Pilipinas.

kelsey merritt is filipino. she may have eurocentric features, but to invalidate her growing up in the philippines and in this culture is to invalidate anyone else who has sought refuge with us, filipinos.
i dont understand why anyone would think kelsey merritt is less of a representation of filipinos just because she has eurocentric features? the girl identifies and is a filipino, and i think being filipino goes beyond how you look?
