Sharon Cuneta's brother Chet Cuneta to run for Pasay City mayor

Today, July 2, Sharon Cuneta has announced via Instagram that her elder brother Chet Cuneta is running for Pasay City mayor in the May 2019 elections.

She has accompanied Chet as he registered as voter in Pasay City at the Commission on Elections.

Their father, the late Pablo Cuneta, had been Pasay City mayor for 41 years.

Sharon’s Instagram caption reads, “It took us many, many heart-to-heart talks throughout some time to finally come to this decision. And we made sure that when we came to it, it was with all our hearts and souls.

“Only with the spirit to serve honestly and with our father Pablo’s legacy in mind.

“Cesar “Chet” Cuneta is running for Mayor of Pasay City.”

Sharon has also vowed to campaign for her brother who had been a licensed pilot for 32 years.

“I pray that if you are living in Pasay and reading this, I pray that God touch your heart and support him in these coming elections.

“I will be 110% behind him, beside him.

“He is giving up his 32 years of his career as a hard-working pilot to serve the people of Pasay City.

“He will make sure na ang lahat ng kikitain ng Pasay ay mapupunta sa pagpaganda, pagpapaunlad ng Pasay, at sa mga TAO NG PASAY. AKO MISMO AY KASAMA NIYANG MAGBABANTAY.

“God bless you all and thanks so much! We love you. Kuya Chet & Sharon"

According to a separate report from ABS-CBN News Online, Chet will run under the "coalition supporting President Rodrigo Duterte."

No further details have been mentioned except that Sharon was seen dining with President Duterte in Malacañang Palace last March.

Sharon is the wife of Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, who is the current president of the opposition party, Liberal Party.

The incumbent mayor of Pasay City is Antonio Calixto.
