Former Senator Edgardo Angara has passed away, Sunday morning, May 13.
His son, Senator Sonny Angara, confirmed the news via his Twitter account, revealing that his father died from "an apparent heart attack."

Funeral arrangements are still being finalized, but Sonny "will keep everyone posted, too.

The former senator is said to be the longest-serving senator after the EDSA Revolution.
He was first elected as senator from 1987 to 1998, and then again from 2001 to 2013.
In 1993, Angara served as the senate president under the Ramos presidency.
He resigned from the post in 1995.
Under the Estrada administration, Angara was appointed as Secretary of the Department of Agriculture from 1999-2001.
The former Senate president was 83.
