Metlogs, short for metrosexual jologs, is a film about three men who leave their hometowns to try their luck in Metro Manila. They're all bagong salta, curious about the promises of urban life.
When someone says you're "metlogs," you're one of those who are in between "jologs" (can't afford to buy luxurious things), and on your way to becoming a metrosexual.
The gadgets, hairstyles, fashion and lifestyle that define the ultimate Filipino Alpha Male is spoofed and redefined in this modern comedy about three men with blue-collar jobs who are highly resourceful in re-creating themselves.
At the center of this saga is Joven, a sensitive dance instructor who's also talented in hair styling. A sensible straight guy, Joven is about to marry Babes, a more mature pensionada. Problem is, the family of his beloved doesn't like him and he himself isn't serious about tying the knot.
Next comes Rodel, a talented young fellow who allows himself to be ridiculed and insulted at his part-time coffee-shop job. He's working to finish his college degree.
And then there's Cris, a salesman who tries hard to be on the same level as his rich and classy bitch of a lover.
The trio are lucky to be under the care of beautician Vitarich (Chokoleit), an aging gay who's full of wit and wisdom.
Metlogs is a funny flick that tackles how young men survive the harsh and expensive urban lives they lead. The deeper their problems and troubles, the better they dress to cover them up. Anyone can always look good and try to be happy despite the most difficult times.
