Bayaning Pilipino 2009 Awards will be aired this Sunday, Sept 6

Various Kapamilya stars headed by Judy Ann Santos unite to celebrate the 12th Gawad Geny Lopez Jr. Bayaning Pilipino 2009 Awards Ceremony airing this Sunday (September 6) on ABS-CBN.

Presenters for this year's awarding include celebrities Maja Salvador and Rayver Cruz, Tetchie Agbayani and Christopher de Leon, Helen Gamboa and Gian Sotto, Sandra Seifert and Victor Basa, Pokwang and Yachang, Dominic Ochoa and Zaijan Jaramilla, and Judy Ann Santos.

With special performances and surprise numbers, guest artists for the night are Nikki Gil, Rachelle Ann Go, Yeng Constantino, Gab Valenciano, The Gigger Boys, Laarni Lozada, Juris of MYMP, The Lahing Kayumangi Band, Robert Sena and Bituin Escalante.

The Gawad Geny Lopez Jr., Bayaning Pilipino 2009 Awards Ceremony gave tribute to some of the country's most outstanding individuals in seven categories such as Bayaning Kabataang Pilipino, Bayaning Gurong Pilipino, Bayaning Balik Lingkod, Bayanihan Pilipino sa America, Bayaning Pilipino sa Gawing Japan, Bayaning Pamilyang Pilipino, and Bayaning Pilipino (Individual).

The late known philanthropist and then ABS-CBN Chairman, Eugenio Lopez heard about a Filipina domestic helper in Hong Kong saving her ward from a car accident and sacrificing her life. Eugenio Lopez was so inspired by the heroic act that the Bayaning Pilipino Awards was born. The Bayaning Pilipino Awards was launched in 1994 in partnership with the Ugnayan at Tulong Para sa Maralitang Pamilya (UGAT) Foundation, Inc. headed by Fr. Nilo Tanalega, SJ.
