Nagpahayag ng suporta si LA Mumar para sa nakababatang kapatid na si Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.
Eleven years ang tanda ni LA kay Vico.
Kung nasa larangan ng pulitika si Vico, nasa sports industry naman si LA.
Si LA ang kasalukuyang head coach ng Ateneo Blue Eagles women’s basketball team.
Ang ina nila ay ang veteran actress na si Coney Reyes, pero magkaiba ang kanilang ama.
Si LA ay anak ni Coney sa dating PBA player na si Larry Mumar. Ang ama naman ni Vico ay ang TV host-comedian na si Vic Sotto.
Pumanaw si Larry noong 2001.
Sa recent interview ng One Sports kay LA, sinabi nitong updated siya sa mga nangyayari sa kanyang nakababatang kapatid.
Sinabi pa ni LA na mayroon siyang constant communication kay Mayor Vico.
“We’re both busy. Well, he’s busier," pakli niya.
"Ako [sa] UAAP, he’s [busy with] politics and governance.
“But we’re brothers — we grew up together, we text each other.”
Recently, naging matunog ang pangalan ni Mayor Vico dahil sa usapin ng anomalous flood control projects ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Bagamat may kanya-kanya na silang buhay, sinabi ni LA na regular silang nagkikita sa bahay ng kanilang ina para sa family bonding.
“I was just texting him this morning, texting [Bible] verses, kamustahan...” sabi ni LA.
“So we’re here for each other, and every so often, we have dinner at my mom’s house. So we catch up there.”

VICO SOTTO SAYS LA INSPIRED HIM TO ENTER PUBLIC SERVICE
Noong 2016, isang rebelasyon ang ibinigay ng Pasig City mayor nang mag-post siya ng birthday message para sa kanyang Kuya LA.
Sa Facebook post ni Vico, sinabi nitong malaki ang kinalaman ni LA sa pagpasok niya sa public service.
Growing up, ginagaya raw ni Vico ang hitsura at ang interes ng kanyang nakatatandang kapatid.
Ani Vico, “Kuya LA is my role model. Growing up, I would always just copy everything about him. My jeans were baggy, the only sport I cared about was basketball, and I became semi-kalbo.
“And it was through Kuya that I was first exposed to the ideas of GOVERNANCE and POLITICS.
“He would get home from class and teach me what he learned that day.
“I distinctly remember him teaching me the difference between jus soli and jus sanguini when I was around 9 years old.
“When I was 10, he gave me a copy of the 1987 Constitution and he would assign certain Articles for me to read, then he’d quiz me before I went to bed at night.”
Bagamat 11 years daw ang tanda ni LA, hindi raw nito minaliit ang kakayahan ni Vico kahit noong paslit pa ito.
Pagpapatuloy ni Vico, “He would talk to me about things that I didn’t even understand and he would always challenge me to learn more and do better.”
Ganoon din daw ang ginagawa ng kanyang Kuya LA kapag nagko-coach siya ng kanyang mga manlalaro.
“[H]e not only trains them but he empowers them. He has given many, including me, a boost in confidence because of how he believes in us,” post ni Vico.
Pagtatapos ng mensahe ni Vico, “Kuy, thank you for seeing my potential and for allowing God to use you to mold me as a person. You are one of the biggest reasons why I am the way I am today."

CONEY REYES’S THREE KIDS
Bukod sa pagiging coach sa Ateneo, pamilyado si LA. May tatlo siyang anak na lalaki.
Naging basketball player din siya ng Ateneo noong nag-aaral pa siya. Nagtapos siya ng Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies.
Nagkaroon din siya ng short stint sa showbiz.
Ang kapatid naman nilang si Carla ay chief executive officer at founder ng SCALE Solutions, isang organization na tumutulong sa mga tao at mga komunidad na manatiling relevant sa modern workforce.
