Megastar Sharon Cuneta is unplugging from social media for a short while to prioritize rest and self-care.
In an Instagram post on August 28, 2025, the 59-year-old actress and singer announced she’ll be out of reach for a few days, available only to family, as she takes a social media detox.
She uploaded a selfie with the caption, published as is: "Hi, everyone! I will be taking a rest from Social Media and my phone will be off.
"I will only use the one phone I use for my family. No contact with friends and co-workers—family lang talaga. I need to detox. So I will be out of touch for several days.
"My mind and emotions are gonna take a vacation from everything extra! Love you all. See you again soon! God bless you always. [emoji]"

Sharon didn’t share further details about her reason for taking a break, but followers rallied behind her in the comments, promising to wait.
"We love you Mama Sha, take care always — pagbalik mo andito parin kaming mga babies mo naghihintay lagi sayo iloveyou so much,” wrote one fan.
Others posted: “Hihintayin ka namin hanggang pag balik mo!!” and “We are always here for you. Love you, and God bless you always Mami!”
Another added, “Mamimiss ka namin ma! Pero lagi ka namin hihintayin!"

Sharon has periodically stepped away from social media.
In early 2024 she took a two-month rest to recover from a hip problem, which also prompted her to go offline.
The break came after a busy run during the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023, when her film Family of Two with Alden Richards was among the entries
In an interview with the press, Sharon reflected on what she learned about social media during that extended break.
She said: "I realized so many things about myself. Like, 'Oh my gosh why am I posting everything about my life?'
"[With social media], you get so used to it that you don't think about it anymore.
"And you'll be wondering, 'I never used to do this, why am I doing it now?'
"I was kind of knocked back to my senses and I'm very glad for that two months of rest that I had because of my hip. That's all I got to do in that period — think."
Growing more mindful of her internet and social-media habits, Sharon added: "I realized that I hurt people when I was hurt and actually I shouldn't have.
"Why did I allow myself to be like them? I might have learned a bit too late but now I see all the mistakes I've made."
