Naglabas na ng gag order ang Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court kaugnay sa kasong cyber libel na isinampa ng TV host-comedian na si Vic Sotto laban sa movie director na si Darryl Yap.
Inliabas ng Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205 ang tatlong pahinang omnibus order noong Lunes, Enero 13, 2025.

Nakasaad dito ang utos ng korte sa pagpapatupad ng gag order sa lahat ng partidong sangkot sa kasong isinampa ni Vic laban kay Darryl.

Ito'y matapos tahasang banggitin ang pangalan ng Eat Bulaga! host sa kontrobersiyal na teaser ng pelikula ni Darryl na The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.

Dahil sa gag order, bawal munang pag-usapan ang mga detalye ng kaso sa publiko, alinsunod sa sub judice rule, hangga't hindi pa ito nareresolba.
"All parties are directed to observe strict confidentiality in compliance with the sub judice rule, ensuring that the case proceedings and any related matters remain undisclosed to the public until resolve," mababasa sa inilabas na order ng korte.

Darryl Yap seeks gag order vs Vic Sotto’s camp
Noong January 10, hiniling ng kampo ni Darryl na mag-isyu bg gag order ang korte upang pigilan ang kampo ni Vic na pag-usapan ang anumang detalye tungkol sa kaso.
Sa panayam ng legal counsel ni Darryl na si Atty. Raymond Fortun sa ABS-CBN News nitong Martes, January 14, inilahad niya ang dahilan kung bakit sila nagdesisyong maghain ng motion.

Ayon kay Fortun, ginawa nila ito para hindi maapektuhan ang tingin ng publiko tungkol sa pelikulang The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma na nakatakdang ipalabas sa mga sinehan sa February 2025.

Dagdag ni Fortun, wala pa ring inilalabas na desisyon ang korte kaugnay sa hinihiling ng kampo ni Vic na writ of habeas data o pagpapatigil sa pagpapalabas ng promotional materials ngThe Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.
Ani Fortun, "The second reason kung bakit namin gusto ng gag order ay para mapigilan yung umano'y mga irresponsableng pahayag nung mga abogado ni Mr. Sotto.
"Pinagpipilitan pa [rin] kasi nung abogado na mayroon na raw order."

MRTC ON WRIT OF HABEAS DATA FILED BY VIC SOTTO
Paglilinaw naman dito ng Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court, inilabas nila ang writ of habeas data para pasagutin si Darryl tungkol sa reklamo ni Vic.
Ganumpaman, dedesisyunan sa susunod na pagdinig ang hiling ng kampo ni Vic na tanggalin ang teaser at iba pang promotional materials na may kinalaman sa pelikula ni Darryl.
Pahayag ng korte, "This court emphasizes that the issuance of the writ merely serves as a procedural directive requiring the respondents to submit a verified return. The actual relief prayed for in the petition will only be considered and resolved after the court conducts a proper hearing to assess the merits of the case."
Kasunod ng gag order, inuutos din ng korte na magkomento si Vic sa motion for consolidation na inihain ni Darryl, hanggang Lunes, Enero 20.
