Paano Kayo Ngayon? (MMFF 1976), Banta ng Kahapon (1977), Palaban (1980), Kamakalawa (1981), at Desire (MMFF 1982).

Sabi ni Direk Joey, ang Aguila ay “one of his most monumental films, Aguila, and giving honor and tribute to Eddie Romero and his family, as well as the cast members of Aguila, OK, na andidito pa hanggang sa ngayon.”

Kabilang sa cast ng Aguila sina Christopher de Leon, Charo Santos, Sandy Andolong, Daria Ramirez, Elizabeth Oropesa, Chanda Romero, Celia Rodriguez, Roderick Paulate, Joonee Gamboa, Odette Khan, at Susan Valdez.

Nasa cast din ng Aguila sina Amalia Fuentes, Eddie Garcia, Jay Ilagan, Orestes Ojeda, Johnny Delgado, Ruben Rustia, Lito Anzures, Rolando Tinio, at marami pang iba.

PAMANANG PELIKULA

“So we are showing the major works representing the achievements, you know, the crowning glory of the eleven National Artists natin.

“Ano ang dahilan nito? It’s about time that we re-introduce these National Artists to the popular audience.

“We are of the belief that without giving due recognition to tradition, can we not find any direction for the future of Philippine cinema.

“We believe that the audiences should be aware of the major contributions of these National Artists so that the next generation of Filipino filmmakers will have a sense of perspective and direction for the future of Philippine cinema.”

DGPI-FDCP FILM PITCH 2024

4TH PFIM GALA NIGHT

Ang 4th PFIM Gala Night ay sa Setyembre 13, Biyernes sa Teatrino Promenade sa Greenhills, San Juan City.

“Dito, we will give honor, OK, to the celebration of the National Artists,” pahayag ni Direk Joey.

“We’re inviting the families, OK, of the National Artists.

FILMS FOR PEACE

“How did we get this idea of Films for Peace? Sa meeting namin ng Academic Film Society, may isang teacher from Mindanao who said that films can be a very vital instrument for promoting peace and creating an understanding of the diversity of Philippine culture,” pagtatapat ni Direk Joey.

“Because that is for us to understand, OK, the situation about how it is in Mindanao, how it is in the Visayas, et cetera.

“And that’s also to de-centralize the idea na ang Philippine cinema is only limited to Manila.”

Dagdag ni Direk Joey, “Tapos nito, meron kaming big announcement about an FDCP-sponsored contest, OK, for Films for Peace which would be open nationwide to both students, amateurs as well as professional filmmakers.”

“Nag-establish kami ng grupo called the Academic Film Society…

“We invited all the schools and colleges and universities which offer MassCom, film courses, Communication Arts, and we formed an association nationwide.

“Right now, we have 60 schools and universities all over the country from Luzon all the way down to Mindanao who are a part of the Academic Film Society…

“On September 17 and 18, there’s going to be a big national convention of all these schools, the teachers and the students, to be held at… ang dati kong eskuwela, the Design Arts Centre of College of St. Benilde, Pablo Ocampo Street.

“Doon gagawin itong national convention. May mga round table discussions for film educators.

“At meron ding mga screenings of the best student films para mapanood nila. At saka merong mga meet-and-greet.

“Mga open forum from the Directors Guild of the Philippines, members of AKTOR, and the Filipino Screenwriters Guild.

“Ipakikilala namin sa mga estudyante yung mga professionals where they can ask questions. Mas importante, they can get to know each other.

“I know that there are delegates coming from Mindanao, as far as Mindanao, to attend this.

“It’s gonna be such a big event for the film students to get to know each other, and hopefully network, and create better stories which integrate the narratives of our country starting with the kids.

“The FDCP strongly believes that the future of Philippine cinema depends on the next generation of Filipino filmmakers.

“And this is our contribution to that. Malaki ang convention na ito. This is long overdue.”

“These are full-length regional films from Mindanao and the Visayas, and we’re bringing them over and making them accessible to the Manila audiences,” wika ni Direk Joey.

“It’s about time na mapanood natin yung mga ginagawa nila. Andaming magaganda pero nobody has the chance to watch them.

“Because we never show them here. ‘Sinong manonood niyan? Sinong manonood ng Visayan movie?’ Are you crazy?!

“The Visayan movie is as important as the movie in Filipino because it’s also made by Filipinos.

“And the narratives that they carry are equally if not even more important than the… you know, some of the things that we do here, including some of my works, OK.

“So in other words, kailangang marinig natin iyan, and we bring it here. This is gonna be a program that we’re going to continue — bringing the regional films here to Manila — so that we get to know the regional filmmakers.”

SINE KABATAAN

“This is an annual thing that we do, OK. It’s a contest for you know, young and budding filmmakers from ages,” lahad ni Direk Joey.

“Alam mo, nabaliw ako, hanggang 30 years old, puwede ka palang sumali rito. Hanggang 30 pala ang kabataan, my God!

“That means I’m already on my adolescence, di ba? Ha! Ha! Ha! At my age, di ba?

So yun.”

4th PFIM CLOSING CEREMONY

“Our closing ceremony will again celebrate the National Artists, OK.

“The purpose of this celebration is to honor tradition. Di ba, nung Parangal [ng Sining], we honor tradition, too?

So this year, we’re continuing that.

“Without knowing the past, we do not understand the present, much less know the direction of the future.

“So let us celebrate the past, so that we can get a better understanding of who we are right now and find a better direction of where we will go in the future.”
