Ang main venue ay mga sinehan sa Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
OPENING and closing FILMs
Ang opening film na The Gospel of the Beast starring Jansen Magpusao and Ronnie Lazaro ay libreng ipapalabas sa Agosto 2, Biyernes ng 7:00 P.M.
Open sa public iyong Cinemas 2, 9, and 10. Ipamimigay ang mga tiket on a first-come, first-served basis two hours before the screening.
Ang screening sa isa pang sinehan ay strictly invitational.
Itong opening film lang ang matutunghayan sa unang araw ng Cinemalaya XX, at sa Ayala Malls Manila Bay lang iyon.

Ang closing film na Bona starring Nora Aunor ay ipapalabas sa Agosto 10, Sabado ng 8:30 P.M. sa apat na sinehan ng Ayala Malls Manila Bay — Cinema 2, 9, 8 and 10.
Ang awards night ay sa Agosto 11, Linggo ng 6:00 P.M., doon din sa Ayala Malls Manila Bay. Ang mga gala ng competing films sa Agosto 3-7, Sabado hanggang Miyerkules, ay sa Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
Doon din ipapalabas ang Misteryo Sa Tuwa, Under A Piaya Moon, Ma’ Rosa (tribute kina Jaclyn Jose at Armando Lao), Ikaw Ay Akin, Iti Mapukpukaw, Lola Magdalena, Guardia de Honor, Lost Sabungeros, Firefly, Asog, AbeNida, And So It Begins, Langit/Lupa, Ghost of Kalantiaw, at Brocka x Bernal.
Sa Metropolitan Theatre naman ipapalabas ang Jose Rizal (Agosto 7, Miyerkules, 4:00 P.M.) at Asedillo (Agosto 9, Biyernes, 4:00 P.M.).
Noong nakaraang taon ay nag-Cinemalaya premiere sa PICC ang Vivamax movie na Call Me Alma, starring Jaclyn Jose and Azi Acosta, directed by Mac Alejandre. Wala bang Vivamax premiere sa Cinemalaya 2024?

Ang iba pang sinehan na pagpapalabasan ng competing films sa 20th Cinemalaya ay Cinema 1 ng Trinoma, Cinema 2 ng Market Market, Cinema 3 ng Greenbelt, at Cinema 3 ng UP Town Center. Ang regular tickets ay P300. Ang student tickets ay P200. Ang tiket sa A-Luxe cinema ay P550.
BEST ACTRESS AND BEST ACTOR CONTENDERS
Exciting ang labanan sa best actress sa 20th Cinemalaya filmfest, lalo pa’t may kani-kanyang panlaban sina Marian Rivera, Mylene Dizon, at Jane Oineza.
Ang papel ni Marian ay isang guro na itinakbo ang ballot box sa 2007 election.
Ang papel ni Mylene ay ina ng isang deaf child na inabuso.
Ang papel ni Jane ay ina ng isang autistic child.
Dark horses sa best actress race sina Gabby Padilla, Mai Fanglayan, at Arisa Nakano.
Para sa best actor, andiyan naman sina Cedrick Juan, Sid Lucero, RK Bagatsing, at Arvin Balageo.

CINEMALAYA CHAIRMAN CARLITOS SIGUION-REYNA
Nang pumanaw si Direk Mel Chionglo bilang Competition and Monitoring Committee chairman ng Cinemalaya ay pinalitan siya ni Direk Jose Javier Reyes, aka DirekJoey.
Nang umupo si Tirso Cruz III bilang chairman ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) ay kinuha niyang technical assistant si Direk Joey, na bukod sa directorial projects nito ay nagtuturo pa sa De La Salle University.

Nang mag-resign si Chair Tirso sa FDCP ay pinalitan siya ni Direk Joey.

Mas nae-enjoy ba ni Direk Carlitos ngayon ang responsibilidad niya sa Cinemalaya kumpara sa pag-arte o pagdidirek?
“Enjoy ako. I really like what I do here,” sambit ni Direk Carlitos sa mediacon ng Cinemalaya XX noong Hulyo 10, 2024 sa ballroom ng Metropolitan Theater sa Ermita, Manila.
“I think iyon lang ang gusto kong masabi sa mga tao — watch the Philippine films kahit anong filmfest, you know.
“QCinema, CinePanalo, and of course yung Cinemalaya. And then, nag-relaunch ang Sinag Maynila.”
Andiyan din siyempre ang Metro Manila Film Festival, na nasa 50th edition na sa Disyembre.
Pagpapatuloy ni Direk Carlitos, “So maraming venues for looking at our own stories about ourselves and hearing the voices of our filmmakers about today’s issues.
“Or seeing comedies or thrillers or dramas you know, at saka social drama, social justice dramas.
“All of that is available in the 20th anniversary edition of Cinemalaya both in the shorts saka sa feature length category.
“Ahhh… and I can tell you, I can just assure you that it’s going to be be an exciting year!
“Wide variety of films and genres… may nakakatawa, merong mga drama, and merong mga seryosong social justice stuff.
“And merong film from the region, cinema region claiming ancestral land.
“It’s a wide mix, but they all sustain the original vision and the evolving vision of Cinemalaya which is to create personal films, personally meaning films of artistic integrity.”
