“Totoo ba ‘to?”

MARIE ON MARIO: “NEVER YAN NAGKASAKIT”

“He's a big loss… hindi ako makapaniwala just like everybody else here, like all of us,” pahayag ni Marie ukol sa pagkamatay ng mentor.

“I think the feeling that everyone feels is, ‘Totoo ba ‘to?’”

“Kasi the time that I worked with Mario for over 15 years, never yan nagkasakit. Never, like [nag-] sick leave…

“Siguro pag pinagsama-sama mo yung sick leave, aabutin ang taon.

“Kasi hindi niya ginagamit. He was always so strong.

Wala yan.’ Because Mario's very strong...

“I'm still in denial…” sabi ni Marie.

SEEING MARIO FOR THE LAST TIME

“Everybody took a standstill during lockdown, during pandemic, and then kikita-kita ulit tayo.

“Like, we're all seeing each other now. Parang ginawa niya nga itong, ano e, chance for everybody [to meet].”

NOOD KA MUNA!

“Everything I know in entertainment was taught by Mario,” sagot ni Marie.

Una raw rito ang pakikisama.

“When I started, ipinakilala niya ako sa lahat.

“He taught me respect first before learning how to do the stories. Kasi kailangan may appreciation ka sa entertainment.

“Kasi nung pagpasok ko, ‘Ah, entertainment, okay.’ Minamaliit tayo, e.

“Pero he had this way of giving value and saying, ‘Ito ay isa sa pinakamahirap.’

“Which is true. People don't realize that it's one of the hardest stories, or hardest beats because you're doing stories on people's lives also.

“And sometimes they don't want to talk to you. And you have to ask the question, the hard question.”

Ani Marie, “He asks for permission. He also has their confidence, e.

“So, pag nagtanong na siya or pag may pinagdadaanan, they open up to Mario.

“Tinuro niya yun. And I wouldn't have done that. I would've been a young reporter just blatantly asking questions without processing na, ‘Ay, kailangan ng respeto.’

“You've seen big celebrities hold on to him. We've seen like, the big celebrities, pag may kontrobersiya nakahawak kay Mario, pag pupunta sa coverage.

“Pagdating natin, lahat tayo naghahabol.

“Respect, the confidence that they have, you know, parang the way they know that he will take care of their story,” paliwanag ni Marie.
