Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria was hailed Best Actress in a Leading Role at the recently concluded Asian Academy Creative Awards 2022.

She won for her role as Dr. Jill Ilustre, a betrayed and vengeful wife in the ABS-CBN adaptation of the BBC series Doctor Foster, locally titled The Broken Marriage Vow.

Jodi bested four of Asia's finest actresses—India's Sakshi Tanwar, Singapore’s Rebecca Lim, Taiwan’s Cheryl Yang, and South Korea’s Kim Hye-sooby a small winning margin of .07.

The awards night was held Thursday, December 8, in Singapore.

The Broken Marriage Vow producer Dreamscape Entertainment congratulated the actress for her latest achievement when they posted Jodi's acceptance speech on their Instagram page.

As shown in the video, Jodi, who personally received the trophy, was in shock after she was announced as the winner.

She was hugged by fellow actress Dimples Romana, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Viral Scandal.

Jodi said in her speech, “This was so unexpected.

“Thank you to the Asian Academy, ABS-CBN, Dreamscape, BBC for allowing us to do the Philippine adaptation of Doctor Foster.

“Our directors, my co-actors, the production team. I would always say that it takes a village to be able to produce a wonderful series.

“I’m just at a loss for words. But again, thank you. This is the highlight of my year.”

She added, “Thank you, thank you, God. I will give back all the glory and praise. Thank you.”
