Maipagmamalaki ng mga Pilipino na kababayan natin si Arsy Grindulo Jr. dahil siya ang executive producer ng A Mermaid for Christmas, ang Hollywood magical family movie na pinagbibidahan ng American actors na sina Jessica Morris at Kyle Lowder.
Nakilala si Jessica dahil sa The Wrong Teacher, ang kanyang hit movie na ipinalabas sa Lifetime TV; samantalang sumikat si Kyle sa mga U.S. soap opera na Days of Our Lives at The Bold and the Beautiful.
Sa virtual press conference ng A Mermaid for Christmas, nagkuwento si Arsy tungkol sa kanyang pagsisimula bilang movie producer sa Amerika, na naging pangalawang tahanan niya sa loob ng halos tatlong dekada.
Isang "accidental movie producer" ang pakilala ni Arsy sa sarili dahil nakumbinsi siyang mag-produce ng pelikula noong 2018 nang ipabasa sa kanya ang script ng sci-fi thriller project na Ascension.
Lahad niya, "I got into the film industry, actually by accident. My former business is in the finances services. One of my top producers introduced me to her son in-law who just finished his cinematic arts [degree].
"He showed me the script of Ascension, a sci-fi horror film which is the first film that I got involved with and that’s how it started."
Dagdag pa niya, "Pilipinong-Pilipino po ako. Taga-Manila ako lumaki. I finished my elementary, high school and college sa Maynila."
May plano siyang muling gumawa ng pelikula kapag nagtagumpay sa box-office ang A Mermaid for Christmas.
Sinabi ni Arsy na bilib siya sa talento ng mga Filipino actor kaya may posibilidad na mag-produce siya ng pelikulang pagbibidahan ng mga local talent.
A MERMAID FOR CHRISTMAS IN PH THEATERS
Magaganap ang red-carpet premiere ang A Mermaid for Christmas sa December 6, 2022, at ipalalabas ito sa mga sinehan dito sa Pilipinas sa December 7.
Pero hindi makadadalo ang lead stars na sina Jessica at Kyle dahil sa kanilang mga commitment sa U.S.
Nanghihinayang si Kyle dahil nagsimula na ang shooting niya para sa isang U.S. television series kaya hindi siya makabibisita sa Pilipinas para i-promote ang pelikula.
Paliwanag ni Kyle: “I am so excited that A Mermaid for Christmas is coming to your city and I so wish that I could be there in person to celebrate the movie.
"I really do wish that I could have been there in person, in your beautiful country, but I’m gonna be on set filming a television show that I’m currently on, that’s why I can’t make it over there."
Paborito ni Kyle ang A Mermaid for Christmas dahil bukod sa ito ang nag-iisang Christmas movie na kanyang ginawa, mababait daw ang lahat ng mga nakatrabaho niya rito.
Nauna nang ipinalabas ang pelikula sa U.S., at naantala lang ang theatrical release nito sa Pilipinas dahil sa pandemya.
