Just recently, a foreigner from Malta named Patrick O'Cock posted a 1993 throwback photo that went viral (left photo, top right inset). It was taken in Boracay, and it featured his son Josh and the Ati kids. Interestingly, Patrick also witnessed the historical EDSA Revolution in 1986 (right photo).

PATRICK WITNESSING THE EDSA REVOLUTION

“At the time I had no idea where in the world the Philippines even was, but I thought... ‘Why not? Sounds like an adventure,’” bahagi ni Patrick sa kanyang libro.

Nag-impake si Patrick at lumipad papuntang Pilipinas.

“Somehow I felt a strange belonging yet had no idea where I was going or what to expect.

“I was wide open like a sail looking to catch the wind.”

Aniya sa kanyang libro, “Before long, I was strutting the streets like I was born there, feeling at home and loving the hustle and bustle of the city street life.”

“I witnessed a revolution as people took to the streets, opposed by armoured military tanks and soldiers everywhere who, as the movement grew, broke ranks and joined the people to oust Marcos.

“In the heat of the action, I climbed up onto an open truck full of revolutionaries in their yellow T-shirts, not afraid to lose their lives for the movement they called ‘People Power.’”

“What I remember is seeing tanks in the streets and crowds of people everywhere wearing yellow,” mensahe ni Patrick noong Huwebes, February 24, 2022.

“Once I heard the news that General Ramos had turned and joined forces with the revolutionaries, it was like a massive people power party.”

“I was in Tambo, Parañaque sitting with some squatters by a vulcanizer place when a truck was passing by crammed with revolutionaries cheering and celebrating.

“Some of them called me ‘Hey Jeprox’ and ‘Hey Joe’ and told me to come up on the truck.

“I climbed up and joined them.

“Many of them had yellow headbands on, mine was green since I always wore that green headband like it was part of my head, but that didn’t seem to be a problem.”

“People were friendly with me and although you might imagine a revolution as being dangerous and chaotic, it was surprisingly peaceful.”
