GMA-7 actor Paolo Contis says he enjoyed working with ABS-CBN actress Yen Santos.
Paolo and Yen worked together for the first time in the Netflix movie A Faraway Land, which is currently available for streaming on the platform.
In the movie, Paolo played the role of Nicco, a Pinoy journalist who heads to Faroe Islands for a documentary. He then meets Mahjoy (Yen), a Filipino expat with whom he builds a complicated relationship.
On August 16, 2021, during a roundtable interview with the press, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Paolo what it was like to work with Yen as his partner in the movie.
Paolo only had good words for his leading lady.
“I was very blessed and I’m very thankful na nakatrabaho ko si Yen.
“She is very professional, ang dali-dali niyang katrabaho. Ang saya-saya niya sa set.”
Paolo particularly mentioned Yen's infectious laugh.
He continued, “When she laughs, everyone laughs. Nakakahawa ang kanyang tawa.
“She was very easy to work with. Again, I’m very thankful that I had the opportunity to work with her.”
NETFLIX AS A NEUTRAL GROUND FOR NETWORK WARS
Paolo is also happy that Netflix and other streaming platforms have removed the boundaries of the network war.
A Faraway Land, for instance, has allowed Paolo, an exclusive network artist of GMA-7, to be paired with Yen, who is an ABS-CBN star.
He said, “I’m very thankful for Netflix dahil kumbaga, totoo naman, naging neutral ground siya for everyone na magkatrabaho.
“Siyempre, hindi natin maiiwasan, merong taga-GMA, merong taga-ABS.
“Now, we have a platform where everyone can actually work together.”
And as someone working in the industry, Paolo said the network wars only limit their work opportunities.
He emphasized, “Kasi bilang artista, in all honesty, sa amin naman, walang war, gusto lang namin magtrabaho.”
