ABS-CBN actor Marlo Mortel is set to appear in GMA-7's talk show, Mars Pa More.

Yesterday, August 4, 2021, the Facebook account of Ornstal, Marlo's jewelry business, posted a photo of Marlo with the hosts of the program, Camille Prats and Iya Villania.

During Marlo's virtual press conference held on the same day, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) took the chance to ask if his guest appearance means he is transferring to GMA-7.

Marlo answered, "Iyong guesting na iyon, it was just a guesting really—also, of course, to promote the song."

But when it comes to career changes, Marlo explained: "I can’t really tell right now kung anong mangyayari sa career ko.

"But definitely, something is happening and kapag final na, I'm gonna update you, guys."

When pressed to elaborate, Marlo said, "Parang hindi naman, I don’t really know… change in all aspects na lang. Better. For improvement."

Is he still under Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent-management arm?

He replied with a smile, "Ayan, I can’t really tell pa."

Marlo has been a Star Magic talent since 2012, after he became a part of the daytime series Be Careful With My Heart.

With the success of the series, Marlo's love team with Janella Salvador also earned its own fanbase.

In 2015, ABS-CBN decided to break up their love team. Aside from acting in a few teleseryes, Marlo focused on hosting, recorded singles, and launched an album under Star Music.

Prior to becoming an ABS-CBN talent, Marlo had a short stint with GMA-7 in 2010.

He was part of Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman, hosted by the late German "Kuya Germs" Moreno, and the youth-oriented series Tween Hearts.

NEW SINGLE, NEW RECORD LABEL

Marlo made a change early this year when he signed with Polyeast Records.

In fact, the press conference yesterday was for "Bituin," his second single under his new music label.

It was a few months before Marlo released his first single "Mahina."

To differentiate the two, he said, "Iyong 'Mahina' kasi, nandoon pa ako sa side ng Marlo 1.0, ganyan.

"Pero this time around, this is really the new me as an artist and I hope everybody sees the change and accepts it and also follows the music."

What made him decide to sign with Polyeast Records?

Marlo said, "With Polyeast, I was really finding or looking for myself as an artist and talagang... maybe, I don’t know, the universe conspired? Haha!

"Dito ako napunta sa Polyeast which I'm very grateful for because they let me be really who I am. They support my music, they support my songwriting and my vision."

How did he leave his previous music label?

"Last year pa, nagpaalam ako na I really wanna explore kasi nag-upload din ako ng independent songs ko before, including 'Bones' featuring an American Idol finalist [Evelyn Cormier].

"So through my experiment, nahanap ko talaga iyong style ko."

He may be keeping his career developments under wraps, but Marlo assured fans, "As of now, I’m also busy doing a lot of stuff, I’m also studying Music."

The new chapter of his life has also made him more confident in expressing himself.

Marlo said, "I'm just genuinely happy now, I can say.

"Kasi parang dati, masyadong busy iyong life ko sa mga hindi talaga essential for me, we keep on focusing on what we can fix outside.
