Kahapon, May 4, ibinahagi ni Nova sa kanyang Instagram ang pagkadismaya mula sa ilang pageant fans na nagkomento ng hindi kaaaya-aya tungkol sa kanyang hitsura.
Mababasa rito ang panghuhusga sa kanyang balat:
“nognog.”

“Akala ko engkanto.”
“Over well done ang chicken,,charge sa grillman.”
“Tostadong tostado na nga, NASUNOG pa.”
“hindi sa hinuhusgahan ko pero natatakot ako sa kanya promise..parang hindi sya tao.”

Sa Instagram ngayong Miyerkules, May 5, nag-post muli ng larawan niya si Nova kung saan mababasa naman dito ang mga positibong komento mula sa kanyang Pinoy fans.
Sa kanyang mensahe ngayong araw, humingi siya ng dispensa sa mga tagahanga niya mula sa Pilipinas.
Hindi raw niya nais magsimula ng kaguluhan.
Hindi rin daw dapat husgahan ang mga Pilipino dahil marami siyang kakilalang Pinoy na mabait at magalang.
Mensahe ni Nova sa caption: "Let’s end things on a positive note.
"To my Filipino fans: I’m sorry if my previous post caused you any harm.
"My post wasn’t intended to incite more hate; rather shed light on the toxicity that sometimes hails from fans (from all over the world).
"The last thing I want is for anyone to experience hate so please don’t bash or generalize the Filipino fans; not all are racist.
"Some of my closest friends who also happen to be some of the nicest people I know are Filipino.
"In every group of people; whether black, white, green, yellow, red, purple, there are always a few bad apples.
"I know for a fact there is more good than evil in this world; Which is why it’s important to shed light on the darkness so that our collective light can illuminate the world."
Ito na rin daw ang huling post niya tungkol sa bashing.
Dapat daw ay palaganapin natin ang pagmamahal at ang patuloy na pagbubunyi sa totoong kahulugan ng beauty pageants.

Si Nova Stevens ay ipinanganak sa South Sudan pero lumaki sa Canada.
Ang kandidata ng Pilipinas sa Miss Universe 2020 ay si Rabiya Mateo.
Humingi na ng paumanhin si Rabiya kay Nova at sa isa pang kalahok sa Miss Universe 2020 na si Miss Thailand kaugnay ng hate comments na natatanggap ng mga ito mula sa ilang PInoy pageant fans.
Gaganapin ang grand coronation ng Miss Universe 2020 sa Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino sa Hollywood, Florida, sa May 16, 2021 (May 17 sa Pilipinas).
