Nasa kritikal na kundisyon ngayon si dating Senador Heherson Alvarez, 80, at ang kanyang misis, ang theater legend na si Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, 76.
Parehong positibo sa COVID-19 ang mag-asawa.
Kinumpirma ito ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), kung saan nanungkulan si Heherson bilang secretary mula 1986 hanggang 1987.
Ayon pa sa ulat ng CNN Philippines ngayong araw, March 31, nag-alay ng dasal ang mga empleyado ng DAR para sa paggaling ng dating kalihim.
Sa hiwalay na ulat ng Bombo Radyo Philippines—sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Bombo Radyo Cauayan (Isabela) kahapon, March 30—sinabi ng anak ng mag-asawa, si Hexilon Alvarez, na kasalukuyang naka-confine sa Manila Doctors Hospital ang kanyang mga magulang.
Na-admit ang dalawa noong Miyerkules, March 25.
Sinabi pa ni Hexilon na nakaranas ng lagnat at ubo ang kanyang ama, samantalang may pneumonia naman daw ang ina.
Hindi raw nila naisip na magkakaroon ng COVID-19 ang kanyang mga magulang dahil hindi naman daw madalas lumabas ng bahay ang mga ito.
Pero um-attend daw ang mag-asawa ng isang pagpupulong kung saan nakasalamuha nila ang isang foreigner na Person Under Investigation (PUI) umano.
Sa kasalukuyan ay naka-intubate sina Heherson at Cecile dahil bumaba ang oxygen level ng mga ito.
Dahil dito, humiling si Hexilon ng ibayong dasal para sa agarang paggaling ng kanyang mga magulang.

Umapela rin ng dasal ang isa pa nilang anak, si Xilca Alvarez, sa pamamagitan ng Facebook:
"If you could share the following to the people who care, so that they know and that they can offer their prayers for mom and dad and for all the heroic doctors, nurses and healthcare workers looking after everyone:
"Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. Dad was intubated yesterday, and as I write this, mom is about to be intubated as well. Both of them are now fighting for their lives. But they’re the bravest people I know, so I know they’ll give it everything they have"
Nanawagan din ng dasal ang Kapamilya TV host na si Kim Atienza para sa mag-asawa.
Sabi ni Kim sa kanyang Facebook post noong March 29:
“Tita Cecille, you are a mentor and friend. This is one of the many battles of your life.
"Let us storm the heavens for Cecille Guidote Alvarez and Senator Heherson Alvarez' healing.
"Laban! Kaya natin ito!
"The Lord's strength is made perfect in our weakness. We can do this through HIM who gives us strength!"
Ayon naman sa isa pang Facebook post, "To all the people who know and love former Sen. Heherson T. Alvarez and his wife Cecille Guidote Alvarez, two people who have always devoted their lives towards the betterment of our own, this is to let you guys know that they are both in serious medical condition and have been intubated at Manila Doctors Hospital.
"Their children are asking for our prayers and supplication towards their recovery from this pandemic and the safety of all the heroic doctors, nurses, and frontliners looking after everyone.
"Let's help them win this fight. Please share to as many people as you can. (three praying hands emojis)"
Si Heherson ay nanungkulan bilang senador mula 1987 hanggang 1998, at congressman ng Isabela mula 1998 hanggang 2001.
Maliban sa DAR, naging secretary rin siya ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) noong 2001.
Si Cecile naman ang founder ng Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), na namamayagpag hanggang ngayon.
Ginawaran si Cecile ng Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service noong 1972.
