Ang independent film na Condo ni Coco Martin ay ipalalabas sa
IndieSine, Robinsons Galleria, from January 23 to the 29th. Directed by Martin Cabrera, itong digital movie ay isa sa magbubukas ng
pelikulang Pilipino ngayong 2008.
Inihahanda pa lang ng tatlong pinakamalaking film outfits ang opening movies nila for this year; ang Big Love from Star Cinema, ang A Very Special Love (na baka ibalik pa rin sa original title nitong My Best Friend's Girl Friend) ng GMA Films and Regal Films at ang Manay Po 2 ng Regal Films. February pa naka schedule ang A Big Love at A Very Special Love at baka April or May pa ang sequel ng Manay Po.
Mula sa Breaking The Box Productions ang Condo. This new production outfit is composed of a young and dynamic group of filmmakers who have a vision of fusing the art of film and video production to tell the stories they are passionate about.
Si Aloy Adlawan ang tinuturing na leader of the pack. Siya ang head writer ng Boys Nxt Door ng GMA-7, ang scriptwriter of the GMA Films production Ouija, and the director of two independent features na Room Boy and Signos.
Kasama niya sina Martin Cabrera, a new director and graduate of College of St Benilde; Rona Lean Sales who is a writer of ABS-CBN for shows such as Sarah, The Teen Princess and Mangarap Ka and now GMA-7's Kamandag; Jeyow Evangelista who is a cinematographer; and Raymund Cruz, another Production Design graduate of College of St. Benilde who is part of the creative team of GMA's Lupin and Marimar.
Ang unang pelikula nila ay ang Condo, a neo-magic-realist-sci-fi-drama about a young security guard who has to deal with his lost sense of being and his encounters with people in the condominium where he is assigned.
Ayon sa director na si Martin Cabrera, ang indie film na ito ay kinunan sa perspective ni Benjie, the security guard played by Coco. "If you're a security guard in a building...doing the same routine everyday, parang, it's really boring. Siyempre, si Direk Aloy made this neo-magical, sci-fi script. There's a kind of twist...mala Twilight Zone. It's supernatural in the sense of bending time and space."
Si Coco Martin, tagged as indie cinema's matinee idol and also a member of GMA Artist Center's boy band called The Studs, ang bida sa pelikula. Makakasama niya rito sina Arnold Reyes, Diana Malahay, Avi Siwa, Chx Alcala, Vice Ganda, Love Thadani, Jao Mapa, and Perla Bautista.
May premiere ang Condo this January 18 sa Robinson Galleria's Indie Sine and it will open commercially and exclusively at the same cinema from January 23 to January 29.
