Ang titulo ng kanyang thesis: “Olfactory Ethics: The Politics of Smell in Modern and Contemporary Prose.”

Ang caption ng post (published as is): “Thrilled to say I passed my viva with no corrections and am officially PhDone.”

“To clarify for anyone unfamiliar with academia, I have a PhD in English Literature, not a PhD in Olfactory Ethics—that is the subject of my thesis that earned me the PhD.”

Aniya, "This thesis studies how literature registers the importance of olfactory discourse—the language of smell and the olfactory imagination it creates in structuring our social world.

"The broad aim of this thesis is to offer an intersectional and wide-ranging study of olfactory oppression by establishing the underlying logics that facilitate smell's application in creating and subverting gender, class, sexual, racial and species power structures."

Ayon sa isang nagkomento, "For those of you who can't translate this academic gobbledygook, let me be your guide: sis literally wrote a PhD thesis on why it's racist and/or classist to not like it when people stink."

Sambit naman ng isa pa, "How did this dissertation get accepted? It provides nothing of value, and only sets this woman up to exploit students for their loans... or an email job somewhere.”

Sabi naman ng isa, “Imagine having a brain this diseased and rotted by leftism?”

“INTERESTING” PARA SA IBANG NETIZENS ANG THESIS

Gayunpaman, may mga nagtanggol din kay Amelia.

Paliwanag ng isa, "People are being so mean to this woman for no reason. Some people just want to study books, that's not a crime."

Dagdag naman ng isa pa, “I can see people being straight up cruel in replies and quotes and most of them are the usual suspects—racists, misogynists and people who would rather have all education be like trade school."

Pagtatanggol pa ng isa kay Amelia, “Large numbers of people are heaping abuse and mockery on a seemingly nice lady who's proud of earning a PhD, demonstrating that the worst thing you can be on social media is earnest and vulnerable, especially if you're a woman.”

Ani Amelia, “To be clear, this is where I draw the line.

“This is abhorrent and illegal, and no one should ever have to deal with this.”

Biro pa niya, dahil sa kanyang tweet, “I just know I’m gonna be the talk of [our] English faculty this week.”
