After 10 years, Korean stars IU and Byeon Woo-seok are set to make a comeback together on Perfect Crown, the latest romantic comedy on Disney+.
IU will play Sung Hui-ju, a ruthless businesswoman who will stop at nothing to make her chaebol family’s business succeed.
She even decides to propose marriage to Prince I-an, played by Woo-seok, to increase her social standing.
Complications arise when the proposed marriage puts into question Prince I-An’s status in the royal family.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to watch the first episode of the series in an exclusive preview arranged by Disney+ on April 6, 2026, at a restaurant in Taguig City.

IU AND WOO-SEOK’S CHEMISTRY

This is the first time that they are officially paired together.
They previously worked together in Scarlet Heart Ryeo a decade ago, but their characters were at odds. In the series, Woo-seok played IU’s unfaithful boyfriend.
This was why IU joked that Woo-seok’s new role is an apology.
“It was almost as if Woo-seok was set on making up for all that hurt from 10 years ago. Like he had been waiting for the entire decade to repay that.
"Even though we hadn't been in touch, it felt like we’ve been friends all along. It makes me want to do another project with him in another 10 years," said the singer-actress in a press conference in Korea on April 6.
Woo-seok, on the other hand, shared how at ease he is in IU’s presence.
“We have chemistry that stretches over a decade, and you can really see that flower in this series. IU makes you feel at ease instantly. She's such a great scene partner and she gave me a lot of advice as well,” explained the 34-year-old model-actor.
IU ON PLAYING A CHAEBOL
Woo-seok was not the only factor that convinced IU to take on the project.
She shared that she was immediately drawn to the role of an ambitious chaebol after reading the script.
What attracted her to play Sung Hui-ju?
"Hui-ju is the daughter of a family that owns everything. Because of that, she's sort of like a celebrity or an influencer.
"Wherever she goes, people are interested in what she does, what she wears, and who she is with.
"She enjoys that attention, but she also uses it as a weapon to get what she wants,” explained the singer-actress.
Perfect Crown will premiere on Disney+ on April 10, 2026.
