A flight carrying Anne Curtis was forced to turn back to Milan amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE MIDDLE EAST?

Anne is just one of the many affected by the recent events in the Middle East.

On Saturday morning, February 28, 2026, Iran's capital, Tehran, was rocked by explosions, according to local media.

Missile attacks were also reported in other cities, including Karaj, near Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, and Kermanshah.

The attack was carried out by the United States and Israel, with President Donald Trump describing the military action as "major combat operations."

The U.S. has expressed frustration over Iran’s reluctance to curb its nuclear program.

Israel has raised concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and regional influence.

Iran and Israel have long been rivals, with tensions rooted in decades of strategic, ideological, and military conflicts, including Iran’s support for groups opposed to Israel.

Both frequently accuse each other of actions that destabilize the Middle East.

Hours after the strikes, reports came out that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed.

One of the sites struck in the joint US–Israeli attacks was the Leadership House, the compound housing the office and residence of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a televised address: "We destroyed the compound of the tyrant Khamenei in the heart of Tehran.

"There are many signs that the tyrant himself is no more."

Trump, meanwhile, posted on Truth Social: "Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead."

In response, Iran has carried out missile attacks on U.S. military facilities stationed in neighboring countries such as Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

The escalating tension prompted safety advisories across the Middle East, including flight cancellations at airports, as authorities sought to prevent further casualties amid volatile airspace.
