A netizen/customer posts on Facebook the photo of the fake QR code that was posted over a real one at an eatery. Upon scanning, the netizen was directed to the account of the scammer instead of the eatery's. The observant customer noticed that the name that was reflected was different from that of the eatery.

Mag-ingat! Pati kasi scammers ngayon, nagle-level up na.

“I quickly checked the QR code image and was surprised to find, after peeling it off, that it was covering the correct image,” sabi ng operator.

“Scanning the ‘fake’ code revealed an individual’s name as the payment recipient, not the account the outlet was using.”
