Bank Errors in PHP4.8B Employee Deposit

The glitch causes so much inconvenience to the employee.

A Malaysian woman experienced a huge inconvenience after a well-known bank in Southeast Asia accidentally deposited 404 million Malaysian Ringgit ($86million) into her account.

Malaking aberya ang idinulot ng aksidenteng pag-deposit ng bangko ng milyun-milyong halaga ng pera sa personal account ng isang kliyente.

Ulat ng Entrepreneur.com, umabot kasi sa 400 million Malaysian Ringgit o $86 million o PHP4.8 billion ang aksidenteng naideposito sa personal account ni Hafidzah Abdullah, isang Malaysian HR (Human Resources) employee.

Glitch ito sa parte ng bangko, ang Malaysian Bank o Maybank, na siyang fourth biggest bank sa Southeast Asia, pero ang naabala ay si Hafidzah.

Pina-freeze kasi ang account niya.

Nagbiro pa ang HR employee na ginawa talagang “memorable” ng bangko ang kanyang banking experience.

Nagkuwento si Hafidzah sa kanyang account sa business and employment-focused social media platform na LinkedIn noong nakaraang linggo.

Bungad ni Hafidzah, “I appreciate your making my banking experience memorable, but I think this glitch took it a little too far.

“Out of a sudden, I found my personal MAYBANK account has RM 400,040,404.04, you'd think I hit the lottery, right? Well, not really – It is glitches!!!

“Now Maybank decided to block my account without any calls, message or notification at all.”

Para mabuksan ang kanyang account, kinailangan daw ni Hafidzah na bumisita sa pinakamalapit na branch para maayos.

Nagtagal daw ito dahil kailagang mag-verify ang customer service, “which took forever & this is not my mistake!”

Himutok ni Hafidzah, “They say money can't buy happiness, but Maybank knows how to buy frustration.”

Tumagal daw ng tatlong araw ang glitch na tumaon pa sa sahod kaya ang naging karanasan niya ay “comedy of errors that no one finds funny.”

Dahil na-block ang kanyang personal account, hindi niya magamit ang company account at kailangang bumisita ni Hafidzah sa bangko araw-araw.

Tinawag niyang “whole new level of inconvenience” ang nangyaring glitch dahil pinagpasa-pasahan daw siya ng bank branches.

Kinumpirma naman ng Maybank ang insidente sa Bloomberg, pero sinabi ng bangko na naayos na ng kumpanya ang problema.

Pahayag ng tagapagsalita ng bangko, “It was not a system-wide issue, and the customer account was not compromised.”
