Rommel Padilla said he is confident his son Daniel Padilla can stand his ground when it is called for.
He said, “Ako’y may tiwala naman kay DJ.
“Kung magkaroon man ng hamunan, lalaki ‘yan, e.
“At saka hindi nagsasabi sa akin ‘yan, e. Alam kong kaya niya itayo ang sarili niya.”
He was referring to an incident in which Daniel supposedly was irked when his fellow Star Magic talent Paul Salas allegedly made fun of him via Twitter.
This was apparently caused by a minor scuffle between Daniel and JC de Vera at the Star Magic All-Star basketball game last August 13.
Paul has since apologized to Daniel for his tweet
Daniel, on the other hand, has forgiven Paul.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) spoke with Rommel last week, August 24, at the press conference for the finale of the ABS-CBN afternoon drama series The Better Half.
ON JC. JC is one of the four lead stars of the teleserye, and Rommel is part of the supporting cast.
Has the tension between his co-actor and his son affected his working relationship with JC in The Better Half?
According to Rommel, “Walang problema, actually, nag-text siya, 'di na nga ako nakapag-reply.
"Katulad ng sinabi ko, physical game ‘yan at hindi naman umabot sa puntong naghamunan.
“At natapos din agad, kasama yun, e."
He also said about JC, “Parang anak ko na rin 'yan, e.”
Rommel also expressed pride in the success of Daniel, who is doing great with his career.
“As always, answered prayers lahat ito,” he said, speaking for both himself and Karla Estrada, his ex and Daniel's mom.
“Since mag-start si DJ sa industriyang ito, wala kaming ipinagdasal kundi sana magtagumpay."
Rommel added he is happy that Daniel has been investing his earnings on business ventures such as a gastropub in Greenhills, San Juan City.
