Newly-crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters expressed support for Mocha Uson’s appointment as assistant secretary for social media under the office of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
This came after Mariel de Leon, Rachel's co-Binibining Pilipinas winner, questioned Mocha's appointment, saying that the sexy singer-turned-political blogger lacks the necessary qualifications of a government appointee.
On Rachel's part, she encouraged those who are against Mocha’s appointment to reconsider their judgment.
At her homecoming presscon in Camarines Sur last Sunday, May 14, the Filipino-British beauty queen said, “I believe that everyone should be given a chance.
“You can't judge a book by its cover, that's something that I was always taught by my parents.
“We should all give her a chance. We should stand behind President Duterte.”
Aside from Rachel and Mariel, TV5 actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith and U.S.-based TV host G Tongi also voiced out their opinions about Mocha’s appointment.
Jasmine and G also disapprove Mocha's appointment.
