Ara Mina maintained that she and her ex-boyfriend Bulacan, Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses remain good friends for the sake of their one-year-old daughter Amanda.
To recall, the two broke up in March 2015 because Patrick was reportedly not ready for a lifetime commitment.
“Kahit wala na kasi kami ni Patrick we communicate... Actually, friends kami,” said Ara in an interview on ABS-CBN morning show Magandang Buhay’s September 7 episode.
Ara further said that she regularly keeps in touch with Patrick in order to update him about their daughter.
“First apo pa sa side ni Patrick [si Baby Amanda] so talagang spoiled,” she added.
In the middle of the talk show, Ara was surprised when Patrick gave her a message via live phone patch.
While they may have failed as a couple, the Bulacan mayor affirmed that he and Ara try to be the best parents for Baby Amanda.
He also has nothing but good words for his ex-girlfriend, which goes to show that they remain respectful of each other.
When asked about how he fulfills his responsibility as a parent to Baby Amanda, Patrick answered, “Siyempre hinihiram ko lagi si Amanda.
“You know, I support Amanda all the way naman with whatever she needs—especially the love, di ba?
“And every weekend na sa akin naman siya. And si Hazel [Ara’s real name] naman, she's not selfish with Amanda.
“Yun naman ang aming common goal kay Amanda—we will always love Amanda.”
What’s more interesting is the way the ex-couple teased each other about the attraction that seems to linger between them.
Patrick lightheartedly addressed the actress as “Ms. Sexy” and “Ms. Ara” when he spoke to his ex-girlfriend.
“Hey, sexy! Keep up [being a] very loving and supportive mother to Amanda. Let’s share the love for Amanda, always.
“Whatever we’ve been through, let’s keep the love for Amanda.”
After delivering his message to Ara, Patrick even quipped, “Kinikilig ka, 'no? Pigilan mo!”
To which, Ara responded, smiling, “Grabe ka!”
For her part, the actress hinted about the possibility of her and Patrick getting back together due to their similar “single” status.
Ara told Patrick, “Thank you for that wonderful message.
“Basta kung ano man yung... Past is past.
“Kumbaga, kailangan tulungan tayo sa pagpapalaki kay Amanda.
“Though alam kong single ka, single ako, pero sige... Hahaha!"
Ara clarified, however, that she and Patrick are free to date whoever they choose to be with.
“Pero ano… Kung magkaroon ka man ng iba, o ako [magkaroon ng iba], basta kailangan we see to it nandun pa rin tayo para kay Amanda as her parents.”
