Ylona Garcia said that the worst comment she got from social media is when bashers tell her that she’s not pretty enough to be a showbiz personality.
When asked about the worst experience she encountered on social media, Ylona told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “When people said that I should get my face done. That I don’t belong here. That I don’t even belong in showbiz.”
The ex-Pinoy Big Brother 737 teen housemate further said that some of the bashers’ comments are really uncalled-for.
“[Some said] that I don’t even belong in this world. That I don’t even belong to my mommy.”
But Ylona maintained that she has never responded to any of the negative feedback against her.
“People say whatever they want to say because I just put myself out there.
“I don’t reply to it kasi that’s their opinion and I respect that. That’s who they are as a person.
“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I’m okay with that.
“What I do is I just love. Yeah!”
PEP was able to interview Ylona after the press launch of her debut album My Name is Ylona Garcia. The event was held at 9501 Restaurant in Quezon City, Wednesday, September 7.
During the presscon proper, Ylona mentioned that she experienced being bullied when she was growing up in Australia.
The 14-year-old Filipino-Australian recalled, “When I was in grade 4, I was bullied for my skin, for the way I speak, for the way I basically [am]—being me.”
Although it was a difficult phase in her life, Ylona said that it taught her to accept both her strengths and weaknesses.
She added, “One thing I learned from that was to stay strong always. They are just bullying you for what was God-given.
