ABS-CBN News reporter Atom Araullo denied speculations that he resigned from his post due to his firm stance against the burial of late dictator and former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani.

In his Facebook post this Sunday, August 28, Atom clarified that he resigned as news reporter in TV Patrol and Bandila to be able to pursue other media-related endeavors.
He remains to be an anchor in ABS-CBN morning news and current affairs program Umagang Kay Ganda and Red Alert.
Atom explained: "I quietly resigned as a news reporter of ABS-CBN a few weeks ago to explore other areas of media and to grow as a journalist.
"However, I continue to work with the network and our programs.
"My political views were not a factor in making this decision."
Atom also maintained that expressing his political views when he was still a news reporter does not equate to conflict of interest or lack of fairness with his news reportage.
The 33-year-old journalist said: "Having studied pressing issues based on fact and with an open mind, journalists, like any other individual, should ultimately stand up for the truth.
"This does not weaken our journalism, it strengthens it.
"Our guiding principles are fairness and accuracy.
"As we face tougher scrutiny from the public, we in media also strive to be more transparent and open to criticism."
