ABS-CBN Corporation has announced the appointment of its new president and chief executive officer, Carlo Katigbak, effective January 1, 2016.
Current president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio will retire on December 31, 2015. She turned 60 years old last October 27.
She has been the Kapamilya network's president since 2008 and CEO from 2013 to date.
Santos-Concio will also continue as chief content officer (CCO), president of ABS-CBN University, and executive adviser to ABS-CBN Chairman of the Board Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III.
She will be retiring effective December 31, 2015.
Katigbak, for his part, has been appointed as COO last March.
According to ABS-CBN's official statement today, December 18, Katigbak has “20 years combined experience in financial management and business operations, corporate planning, and general management.”
As former Head of Access, he used to manage the operations of Sky Cable, ABS-CBN mobile and ABS-CBN TVplus.
Katigbak spent most of his years in Sky Cable, beginning in 1994 up to his appointment as VP for Provincial Operations in 1998.
In 1999, he served as managing director of ABS-CBN Interactive, the former online and mobile arm of the media network.
Then he returned to Sky Cable as its COO from 2005 to 2012 and President from 2013 to early 2015.
Katigbak graduated from Ateneo De Manila University with a bachelor's degree in Management Engineering in 1991.
He also finished an Advance Management Program in Harvard University in 2009.
