Nikki Gil prefers dating non-showbiz guy because “it's less complicated”

“I’m exclusively dating,” nakangiting sagot ni Nikki nang makapanayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at ibang member ng entertainment media sa launching ng kanyang bagong stage musical na The Last Five Years na ginanap sa Palm Grove, Rockwell, Makati City noong July 17.

“Hindi siya college barkada, we just have a lot of common friends from church and also from Ateneo,” pagdedetalye pa niya.

NON-SHOWBIZ GUY. Mas pinili ba niyang non-showbiz guy ang i-date ngayon?

Sagot ni Nikki, “Not that it’s a conscious choice, but I mean, I guess, it’s less complicated.

“It’s less... I mean, I’d rather na kaunti na lang yung opinyon about it than have everyone have something to think of it.

“I like the peace and quiet that it brings, and I feel I’m already giving too much of myself to the public. And if I can just keep this to myself, that would be fantastic.”

Dahil ba na-trauma na siya sa mga guys sa showbiz?

Aniya, “Hindi ko naman lalahatin ang lahat ng showbiz guys.

“I have to admit na it’s more challenging to date someone in the industry as well.

“Because of the fact that it would have to be made public and you will open yourself to the public, to say what they want about the relationship.

“It just complicates it, but it works. I’ve seen it work, I have a lot of friends who are in showbiz relationships and it works.

“But I guess for me, nagkataon lang talaga and I wouldn’t say trauma. Dahil marami akong kaibigan na lalaki na taga-showbiz and I wouldn’t say that I was traumatized.”

NO BITTERNESS. Ano ang nakapag-udyok kay Nikki na muling pumasok sa isang relationship?

“Actually surprisingly, hindi ako nagdaan doon sa, ‘Ayoko na, pagod na ang puso ko, ayoko na, ayaw ko na sa lalaki, sasaktan lang ako!’” wika pa niya habang nagmi-mimic ng isang babaeng umiiyak.

“Hindi ako nagdaan doon because, I know that these things happen and hindi lang naman ako ang nag-iisang nasaktan.

“It’s not a unique story at all, it’s not different, I know a lot of people who have gone through it in this room alone.

“So, hindi ako nagdaan doon, kasi para saan pa?

“Mag-aaksaya ka ng panahon na magiging bitter and because you are bitter, you fail to see the good things that are coming your way or good people that come into your life,” lahad pa niya.

So, masasabi ba niyang naka-move on na siya talaga?

“Yes, yes… I think sawa na rin ang mga peeps sa balita, nakapag-move on na, kumbaga ay nanotaryo na natin, yes, confirmed!” nakatawang saad pa niya.

PREFERS NOT TO WORK WITH BILLY. Samantala, diretsahang sinabi ni Nikki na ayaw niyang makatrabaho ang ex-boyfriend niyang si Billy.

Rason niya, “I don’t think it’s necessary, I mean I’m not kasi... I mean, when I say showbiz, there’s that negative connotation to the word.

“But I cannot...I’m very transparent and so if I am not comfortable, the performance might suffer.

“So I don’t think it’s necessary, e. But I will be... I mean, I’m ano naman, e... hindi naman ako ano, edukado naman akong tao.”

Dahil pareho sila ng manager ni Billy, malaki kaya ang posibilidad na may pagsamahan silang project?

“Yes [pareho kami ng manager], but we’ve gone a year without having to work with each other. So I think we can continue on like that,” saad niya.

ON COLEEN GARCIA. Nagkita raw kayo sa isang fashion show?

“No, no…” pailing niyang sagot.

So hindi pa kayo nagkikita ni Coleen?

Pagklaro niya, “I think in Subic, for the trade event.”

Pero, walang hi-hello?

“No,” matipid na sagot pa ng singer/actress.

LEARNING PROCESS. Lastly, tinanong namin si Nikki kung paano niya idi-describe ang last five years ng kanyang lovelife?

“A, grabe naman 'yon!” nakatawang banggit niya.

“Paano ko idi-describe? It was a learning process. I learned about myself as an individual and as a partner.”
