Will Hayden Kho make a bride out of his former girlfriend Dr. Vicki Belo?
The controversial cosmetic surgeon, who is cast in the Regal Films romantic-comedy The Bride and The Lover, was asked at a press conference held today, April 24, at the Imperial Palace Suites in Quezon City, if he prefers to be Vicki’s lover or does he mean to make a bride out of the celebrity dermatologist in the future.
Hayden, who sat among the cast members of the film, answered, “In my imaginary world, mas gusto ko siyang maging bride.”
The situation, he said, is “complicated” however, considering the history of controversies the former couple has been through.
He added, “We know how we feel about each other and marriage doesn’t necessarily have to be a proof of our love for each other.”
Does that mean he is content to be Vicki’s lover then?
The 32-year-old model/businessman replied, “You know sometimes, yung mga relationships, how you define it, you can’t box it into words kasi nawawalan ng meaning…
“Every time we [define it] parang nagkukulang. So, it’s best na hindi mo dine-define yung relationship.”
FORAY INTO SHOWBIZ. Four years since his controversial sex videos went viral on YouTube, Hayden’s name has become indelible in showbiz.
He was told by his manager, Carlo Orosa: “You know, Hayden, hindi ka na makakatakas sa limelight. You cannot disappear…”
Seeing the sense in that, Hayden did not run away from the limelight.
While he tried to move on from his mistake, the shamed cosmetic surgeon stayed in the circuit, dealing with the round of interviews each time he was asked how he was doing.
With his license revoked by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) after actress Katrina Halili pressed charges against Hayden for videotaping their sexual activities without her consent, Hayden turned to his business, Hayden Fragrances.
The model/entrepreneur is likewise the operations manager of ZO Skin Health and Medical Systems, a skin care product line of Dr. Zein Obagi.
At the press conference, The Bride and The Lover director Joel Lamangan described Hayden as an “intelligent” cast.
In the film, he plays the role of Lovi Poe’s loyal bodyguard who holds a secret to be revealed by the end of the plot.
Does Hayden mean to stay in showbiz?
In an interview, he said, “Hindi ko masabi ngayon, e. Wala naman akong rules na… pero feeling ko kapagka yung purpose ng pagpasok ko sa showbiz is not contributing na to my other plans, then I think I will leave the showbiz world kasi hindi na nakakatulong sa akin.
“Pagka dumating na sa point na hindi na healthy para sa akin yung ganitong mundo, then I will have to forego.”
He considers delving into acting a “learning experience” as well as a “stepping stone” to achieving his goals in life.
“DANGEROUS TERRITORY.” During the interview, Hayden mentioned how he intends to be more careful, bearing in mind the controversies he was involved in.
“Nangyari na sa akin yung past, dumaan na ako dito. Nakita ko na how it can be toxic and how it’s a dangerous territory.
“Now that I’m more aware of that, I’m more careful. Siguro lang mas purposeful lang yung mga kilos ko.”
Asked why he describes showbiz as a “dangerous territory,” Hayden told about his “fears.”
“Showbiz kasi is ano e, I think it’s about parang you are being forced to have a different persona sa TV, na parang kailangan mag-iiba yung… iba yung pakikitungo mo paminsan.
“You can’t be just yourself kasi meron kang image na kailangan protektahan paminsan.
“You can’t just blurt out what you want to say dahil lahat ng tao nakikinig and may mga critical sa mga sinasabi mo at hindi mo rin masabi, may mga taong natututo rin sa 'yo.”
He stressed the need to be more cautious: “Kasi may mga nanonood sa 'yo. May mga natututo sa 'yo.
“So, hindi ka puwedeng basta-basta na lang nagsasalita o gumagawa ng kung anu-ano dahil marami nang nakatingin.”
Hayden makes a disclaimer that he is relatively a newbie in showbiz.
“Hindi naman po ako beterano sa showbiz. Hindi ko naman po alam talaga yung mga alam nung mga mas matagal na kaysa akin.
“Kung tutuusin, bago pa lang din ako. Hindi pa rin ako ganun ka-deep into the industry.
“Parang kung iisipin mo, nakikisawsaw pa rin naman ako sa showbiz ngayon, e.
“So, I can’t really say much about showbiz, pero alam ko na kailangan lang mag-ingat sa mga sinasabi mo, sa mga ginagawa mo dahil… maraming nakatingin sa 'yo.”
TURNS TO VICKI FOR ADVICE. Even after their breakup sometime in February last year, after Hayden was alleged to be having an affair with actress/singer Nancy Jane (also Nancy Castiglione), Hayden and Vicki’s romance lingers.
Hayden, who still goes out with Vicki often, admits to consulting her for advice regarding accepting roles.
“I always do pagka may mga auditions, lagi ko siyang kinokonsulta.
“For example sa movie, merong ibang role na ibinibigay sa akin, tinanong ko sa kanya.
"[Sasabihin] niya [na] ito yung mga reasons kung bakit okay [or] ito yung mga reasons kung bakit hindi.
“Ako pa rin yung ultimate na nagdedesisyon. Hinindian ko yung unang role, ito yung nakuha kong panibagong role.
“Ibinibigay niya sa akin yung pros and cons, tapos ako yung nagdedesisyon.”
He continued, “Tapos yun, for the next movie, tinatanong ko siya, sinasabi niya sa akin kung ano yung opinion niya.
"May mga auditions na gusto niya pumunta ako, tapos ako mismo hindi ko pupuntahan.
“Kasi, sasabihin ko sa kanya, masyadong makain sa oras or hindi ko magagawa yung ibang… hindi ko mababalanse yung buhay ko.”
FORGIVENESS. While Hayden and Vicki have kept mum on the status of their relationship, the two have been vocal about seeing each other.
On February 3 this year, Vicki posted picture of her and Hayden on her Instagram account with the caption: “Love is in the air and its not even Valentine's day yet! My fantasy [come] true.”
Asked during the interview how they patched things up, Hayden chuckled, “Mahaba pong proseso yun, e. Ga-libro po yun!
“The whole Vicki-Hayden story’s a story about forgiveness. A lot of people can learn from it.
“Siguro not from snippets like this—kung ano lang yung nakukuha nila sa TV or sa radyo.
“Kung malalaman lang ng tao lahat, siguro in the future, kung ano yung dinadaanan namin as a couple na ups and downs, and lahat ng usapan, lahat ng learnings, maraming matututunan yung mga tao.
“Ultimately, it’s a lesson about forgiveness.”
CHANGED MAN. In the interview, it was relayed to Hayden that Vicki finds him a changed person.
Asked to comment on it, Hayden said that his renewed faith is the reason behind it.
“I think ang pinakamalaking bagay do’n, pinakamalaking bagay sa pagbabago is God, e.
“Kasi pagka nalaman mo na, pag nagbalik-loob ka sa Diyos… Siya na yung magtutuwid ng daan mo, Siya na yung magki-clear ng path mo.
“Siguro hindi lahat ng tao dito Kristiyano…pero yun po yung naging savior ko, e.
“Para sa akin ha, yun po yung naging saklolo sa aking buhay.”
REVOKED LICENSE. Regarding his revoked license, Hayden said that he has not taken action at the moment to retrieve it.
He pointed out, “Para makuha yung lisensya kasi, October pa ako puwede mag-reapply.
“So, maybe come October, November, or December, or baka the year after na saka palang ako magre-reapply.”
Hayden expressed that although it took time for him to recover from his invalidated license, he has recently learned to let go.
“Isa sa mga natutunan ko—ang dami kong natutunan grabe,” Hayden paused to laugh.
He continued, “Pero isa sa mga natutunan ko, sa dinami-dami, is that you cannot use the past to plan for your future.
“So, hindi ko puwede gamitin na nawala yung lisensya ko para planuhin kung ano yung gagawa ko para sa future.
“Right now, right here is what I have. This is the present and this is the present for me.
“So, nung nawala yung lisensiya ko, hindi naman naka-tie yung identity ko, hindi naman si Hayden Kho yung lisensiya, e.
“Kahit mawala yun, ito pa rin ako.”
How does Hayden face the possibility of not getting it back?
He said he has accepted it and has moved on.
“Okay naman ang buhay ko ngayon. Maayos ang lahat, everything’s smooth, I live a comfortable life.
“Hadyen Fragrances is doing well. ZO Skin Health is doing well. The investments that I have invested years ago is doing well.
“So, I’m okay. Hindi sobrang kritikal sa akin na makuha ko ulit yung medical license ko.”
On the one hand, the model/businessman still feels regretful.
“I would still want it because I really see myself… sayang kasi, e.
“Nasasayangan ako, unang-una.
"Saka pangalawa, hindi ko nakakalimutan yung training ko ng medicine.
“Tingin ko sa sarili ko, when I was a student in medical school, I was pretty okay.
“Hindi naman natanggal yung lisensiya ko dahil hindi ako magaling na doktor, e.”
Hayden said that he can still use his medical background in the future.
“Puwedeng pang-medical mission… kahit anong puwedeng gawin ng doktor, di ba?
“E, yung puwede ko gamitin para kumita, hindi na necessary para sa akin yun…
“Sayang yung natutunan ko, yung laman ng utak ko about medicine kung hindi ko magagamit. And that’s the only way para magamit ko yun.”
