Argo, a political thriller, picked up three awards at the 85th Oscar Awards, including Best Picture.
It also won Best Screenplay and Best Editing.
However, the film’s director, Ben Affleck, was not even nominated for Best Director. The honor went to Ang Lee who won his second Oscar for his work in Life of Pi. The Taiwanese director first won in 2006 for Brokeback Mountain.
Top acting honors went to Daniel Day-Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence.
Daniel won Best Actor for his performance as former President Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln.
This is the third Oscar for the British actor, and he is the first actor to win Best Actor three times. He first won in 1990 for My Left Foot and he won again in 2008 for There Will Be Blood.
Jennifer won her first Oscar trophy for Best Actress for her portrayal as a widow in Silver Linings Playbook. She was previously nominated for Best Actress in 2011 for Winter's Bone.
Christoph Waltz picked up his second Best Supporting Actor trophy for his performance in Django Unchained. He first won for Inglourious Basterds in 2010.
