There's no stopping Brazilian model Fabio Ide's career in showbiz. Hindi na lang siya sa telebisyon makikita kundi pati sa big screen na. Isa si Fabio sa mga bida ng pelikulang D' Survivors na written and directed by Adolf Alix Jr. and produced by Astral Productions.
Modelo rin ang papel ni Fabio sa pelikula. "I'm a vain guy here," sabi niya, although kung kasing vanidoso siya tulad ng character niya, medyo in-exaggerate niya lang daw, dahil sa tunay na buhay nga naman, importante para sa mga katulad niyang modelo to always look good and physically fit.
Isa ang character niya sa grupong na-stranded sa isang isla. Ginawa ang shooting sa Caramoan, isa sa mga isla na bumubuo ng Babuyan Islands.
"We just don't know how we can get out of the island and what was our next step," kuwento niya. "I was so busy in work but when I woke up being in an island and realized how beautiful the place was, I started to play as the vain guy. Always being fun, trying to make the people have fun, making jokes, laughing all the time.
"Yung role ko rito, sometimes speaks English, sometimes Tagalog. So, I enjoyed so much. There are scenes na maybe you'll find sexy but you'll gonna see me laughing all the time."
FILM DEBUT. Nahirapan ba siya sa kanyang first full-length film?
"Actually, it wasn't a hard time. The director, Adolf, is such a talented and brilliant director. He was really like talking to us what he was expecting. So, of course, a little bit hard. First movie, so you still have those butterflies in your tummy. But it was so good.
"The place was so beautiful and Caramoan island is really beautiful. It was my first time. We woke up four o' clock in the morning sometimes, but once you get there, it was like a great experience being there."
Sa pelikulang ito, nagkaroon siya ng pagkakataon na makatrabo ang mga kapwa niya nag-artistang Brazilian models na sina Akihiro Sato and Daniel Matsunaga. How was it?
"For me, it was perfect. Kasi, we're shooting a movie in a place that was so beautiful. At the same time, we're having opportunities to work with people not just from my country but people that are my friends. Like me and Akihiro, we've been friends for five years already. And I expect to do a lot of movies, play more different roles."
FUN WITH EUGENE. Tuloy-tuloy daw ang pag-aaral niya ng Tagalog. May tutor siya na pumupunta sa bahay niya every Monday, Thursday and Friday for two hours.
"Once she arrived in my place, we started talking in Tagalog. So, may mga alam na ako. Minsan hindi ko pa rin maintindihan but I try. I try to speak Taglish."
Sa Sabado, April 17, ay mag-uumpisa na siyang mag-taping para sa Comedy Bar ng GMA-7 kung saan kasama niya sina Eugene Domingo and Allan K.
"I still don't know what will gonna happen. But with Eugene, we've worked already. We've done work for Cinema One in Boracay. She's so adorable. She's so smart. So playful. She's teaching me so many things and taught me a lot especially in Tagalog."
Natawa ito when we asked kung totoo ba na palagi siyang hinahalikan ni Uge (palayaw ni Eugene).
"Yes, it's true. But it's part of our show. We are doing a Comedy Bar, so people would like to see us having fun even if before the show started, we were already having fun. So, super excited."
Tinanong din namin si Fabio, posible kaya siyang ma-in-love kay Eugene?
"Yes and no," ang mabilis niyang sagot. "Yes and no kasi yes, because she's so adorable, so mabait, so smart but the thing is the difference of age. That's the only thing. Honestly, never pa ako nagka-girlfriend na mas malaki ang age gap namin."
Pero sabi rin niya, "I know it's hard because in love, you cannot control, you cannot predict. It just happen naturally. I believe on that. You should have to feel it and experience."
GOOD FEEDBACK. Sanay na or immune na rin siguro ang tulad ni Fabio sa open admiration ng girls and even gays.
"Well, of course, it's nice to always have good feedback from girls and even gays. I don't have problem with them. I respect them as long as they respect me, too. You know the kind of job that you're choosing and I'm choosing the entertainment kind of business and I need to have fans. Either it's an old woman, it's gay or it's a girl. It doesn't matter. You have to reach this audience."
Single ngayon si Fabio. Kabe-break lang nila ng Filipina beauty queen-model na si Lia Andrea Ramos.
"I think, right now, both of us have moved on. She's gonna follow her way and I will follow my way. I mean, it's hard because we've been together for three years."
Career ba ang reason ng breakup nila?
"No, it's not. It happened. Because you know, you're losing the excitement of the relationship. Of course, works helped a lot. Most of the time, you're not home, spend the whole day at work.
"But now, I'm good. And I can focus more on work. I'm not very concerned about girls or having a girlfriend because you just go with the flow."
Pero ayon kay Fabio, may communication pa rin daw sila ng ex-girlfriend.
"Yes, and we both decided to choose this breakup. And I'm sure she's more of feeling better now."
MS. RIGHT FOR FABIO. What does he look for in a girl?
"I always like girls that are funny, smart, athletic, and that love to enjoy life. Always smiling, positive aura, positive energy. That's what I like about the girls, what makes her sexy. Because sometimes beauty is not always what you can look for in a person. There's so much more. The way she move, walk."
Consistent si Fabio na among the actresses, he really finds Iza Calzado as the most attractive.
"I've worked with her and she's so pretty, so smart, so talented. She's a person that I really like as a friend. We've worked together for a commercial. And I've met Marian Rivera, she's also nice, too, as well as Isabel Oli."
Nakasama ni Fabio sina Marian at Isabel sa pelikulang You To Me Are Everything kunsaan gumaganap siya bilang best friend ni Dingdong Dantes.
How was it working with them?
"Dingdong was so great. He's a very talented guy as well. He's helping me a lot especially with my Tagalog. He's really cool and I really appreciate what he did. For me, it's a really new experience. He's a superstar but he's really, really good to me. Even Marian, Isabel, the director. All of them were talking to me and giving me tips.
"That's what I like to make more, more and more so, it's an experience for me day by day."
Fabio's family lives in São Paulo, Brazil, except for his younger sister who now lives with him and is trying her luck in modeling, too.
"Every time I have new pictures, and now with the movie, I already ask Direk Adolf if we can put a translation in [Portuguese, ang lengguwahe sa Brazil] so my parents can also understand. Then I'll send the copy to them. They are happy with everything that I am doing here and all the things that I have accomplished so far."
